Virginia Mason Franciscan Health Center for Weight Management at St. Francis Hospital
I worked mostly with the staff and dietician at St. Francis during my 6 month pre-op regime, only having my initial consult and pre-op visit directly with Dr. Houseworth. My entire process was very satisfactory, and Dr. Houseworth was prompt, professional and courteous during our visits. I also had the opportunity to hear him speak at a weight loss seminar at St. Francis prior to choosing my surgeon, which is why I decided to go with the team at St. Francis. My surgery experience was without complication, and I am very happy with my decision and would recommend Dr. Houseworth as an excellent surgeon!
The Staff at St. Francis Surgical Center were AMAZING! I had my surgery on March 1st, 2016 and had never even been admitted into a Hospital before. I was scared, I was nervous, I was terrified but they were all reassuring and kind. The reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because I suffer from extreme anxiety and panic attacks. I was told on numerous occasions that as soon as I got to the hospital that I'd be given something to calm my nerves. Instead, I was told that wasn't accurate and that I actually wouldn't get anything until I met with the Anesthesiology, right before surgery. That infuriated me.
The second reason I am unable to give them 5 Stars is because I didn't get much one on one time with my Surgeon before the procedure. After my Consultation with him, I only got one more face to face, which he was almost 30 min late to. He came in, gave me some "could happens" ( like open or the sleeve) and that was basically it. Don't get me wrong, he is a Pro. He is Fantastic at what he does, but I felt like a number he had to get to.
Even with that being said, I would highly recommend Dr. Houseworth and his Staff.
Dr Houseworth was great. I met Dr Houseworth at a seminar and scheduled my first appointment at that time. My first appointment was the Wednesday before Thanksgiving 2013 and at that time the Hospital was going to a new computer system. Being the holiday and new system I had to wait almost 4 hours for my first appointment, but I was glad I waited. When Dr Houseworth made it in to see me he was super nice and very informative. I had decided beforehand that I wanted the DS, even though with a BMI of 46, I was on the "lighter" side of things. Dr Houseworth asked why I wanted the surgery I did, and after listening to me he went over why it would be a good surgery and some items he felt I needed to know. I then scheduled all my other appointments and about 6 maybe 7 months later I met with him again. We scheduled my surgery at that time. Day of surgery he was there and checked in before my surgery, and then when I woke up he came by again to check on me. I have since been back to the office a few times, and have met with Kim each time. I am so happy that I had such a great surgeon do my surgery. He has a great background and is so skilled. Thank you!
Dr Anwar is a great surgeon. He is informative and mild mannered and has helped me through some of my pre-surgery jitters. I feel as though I am in very capable hands. I would recommend him to anyone!
I'm currently consulting with Dr. Anwar about a tummy tuck and hernia repair (I haven't had WLS). He was prompt, professional, and I didn't feel rushed. He's got a great manner and answered all my questions without being at all condescending. I was worried about insurance covering the tummy tuck but he had some strategies and support to share, so I'm hopeful this will come about.
So far he seems competent. I havn't really talked to him very much except in two little mini meetings. He has group meetings with his nurses and support staff who talk about everything related to the surgery. While this is going on, everybody has a mini appt with him while he check your vitals and is there to answer any questions. He has done over 125 surgeries with no fatalities. I had total confidence in him and is there to answer any questions you have. His bedside manner is caring. The surgery went perfectly and the after care is great. I was a little too active after surgery and had some concerns and he saw me right away with no appt. I would recomend Dr. Anwar and the Palo Alto Medical Foundation. From his office to the nutruionists and psychology dept.--everyone was very respectful and helpful
Dr. Anwar is a first class surgeon all the way. He manner is kind and caring, at no time did I ever feel like I was any but the most important patient he had. He is honest and forth coming with any imformation I requested. I was completely impressed with him, his staff and that of Stanford hospital. I was a lot scared and they all helped me to feel at ease and as comfortable as possible.
My surgeon, Dr. Haroon Anwar, is AWESOME. The moment I met him, he put me at ease. I have Multiple Sclerosis and he was amazing helping me get approval. The funny thing is all the nurses in the hospital wanted to page him because he is so hansom. He has an incredible bedside manner and I appreciated all his support and kindness. I would totally recommend him to anyone having the surgery. Dr. Anwar’s Physician Assistant, Myra is great too. She is really your key person and will call you and help you when you need it. I had questions the first 2 days I was home and called to ask some questions. She called back within the hour and answered all of my questions. Palo Alto Medical Foundation was wonderful.
