St. David's Medical Center Hospital
Not very accomodating at all, I don't think they deal w/ many bariatric patients and it shows. Trays were left for two days, I awoke to find a tech eating his lunch on a biohazzard bin in my room. The room was never cleaned properly and anything I asked for never materialized (it was only a fan). The nurse CHARLES NEVER called my Dr. when I asked. I was left screaming for help on at least two occasions b/c I could not find the phone. Overall one of the most horrible experiences, please reconsider using this facility.
Post surgery I was taken to the hospitals IMC ward due to some excessive bleeding. The care I received from those nurses and everyone else on that staff was bar none the best I'd seen from any of the 5 hospitals my wife has been in. I truly cannot say enough praise about my IMC experience.
How-ever when I was moved to the hospitals 5th Floor the experience I had for my second night (specifically 11 p.m. - 7 a.m.) was no where near what the previous 24 hours where.
Had an issue with having had getting stuck trying to lie back down after returning from the restroom, being unable to move to adjust myself or the bed. I was in reach of the call monitor and it took 3 calls (a total of 20 minutes) for someone to come and simply adjust the bed. Now this in mind would have seemed petty (I know hospital wards can be busy)but the fact the I was right at the nurses station, and I heard several nurses jaw jacking about personal/home/party matters right outside my room for 2 -3 minutes right after my calls for assistance. Those voices included the one that answered the call for help each time, and when I asked why it took so long the nurse replied, I'm sorry no one told me....
This all said with the change of shift's so did the level of care once again. So this honestly was an isolated incident, with one of staff of many.
The total level of care the was excellent.
