It looks old, but has been completely renovated. The nursing staff was excellent, but the food was awful. My only complaint. :)
SPH is totally committed to providing quality and compassionate care. It's mission is to improve the health of the people and the communities we serve. That is exactly what they have instilled in each and every one of their employees. We have a total commitment to our jobs and our patients. You can always tell you made the right choice when you see all the smiles greeting you throughout the hospital. Employees will just stop and chat with you. Point you in the right direction. We are NEVER too busy to get you where you need to be. You are always a VIP at SPH!
They were very kind and helpful in every way and made my stay comfortable for myself, husband and daughter.
There were some wonderful nurses like John in ICU and Candy on the bariatric floor. "Sarg" my respitory therepist was a Godsend, and overall the experience was nice. I was more pleased than expected. Beleive it or not the bed and pillows were comfy! lol
They went out of the way to accomidate my mother. She stayed at the hospital the entire 5 days I was there and never left my side. My room had a pull out couch she stayed on and they brought her meals and everything. I was visited by hospital administration, and they offered to get me anything I needed and asked how they could make my stay better. I asked for conditioner for when I took a shower because all they give you is shampoo, the hospital administrator had conditioner at my bedside within the hour. How cool is that!
I will update AFTER my surger on 3/4/02. I do go for my preop testing on 2/18/02 at Southpointe also.
I have only been there for my pre-op testing but I found the personnel to be very friendly, very concerned about their part in the patient's comfort. At this point, I have absolutely nothing negative to say about South Pointe.
The staff was truly outstanding in my care. I was given a private room and there was a love seat that folded out into a bed so my husband was able to stay with me the entire time I was there. We were also allowed to spend the night prior to pre op testing and surgery date in the adjacent nursing school facilites free of charge so did not have to incur any hotel fees.
