Ocala Regional Medical Center (COE) Hospital
I was impressed with the attitude of the staff and the willingness to do anything they could for me.
The general upkeep is excellent. I was also impressed with how clean they keep it. I couldn't sleep in the bed but used the chair provided. By doing this my hubby that stayed with me had no place to sleep. He used the bed. The staff never batted an eye. I like that.
I was in a private room with a single chair/bed that they allowed some one to stay all night if I wanted. I do feel there was a problem with the fluid diet flowing surgery. They brought up juice- full of sugar. when questioned about this they said it was fine. Although my instructions strictly forbid fruit juice because of sugar content. I asked for surgar free popsicles which they brought.
Poor pain control on anesthesia's part. Then once I was to my room, I was left for 5 hours before I received adequate pain relief. Being a nurse....just a hint, Demerol rarelly works by itself, you must almost always use it will phenergan to potentiate the action of the demerol. They eventually figured this out after 150mg of demerol with no relief.
My NG-tube was never hooked to wall suction until it was pointed out to the staff, by this time I had severall cc's of blood in my stomach. This was quite painful.
I was never offered a bath the entire time I was there, and my linens were never changed, even after the NG canister dumped over on my bed. My husbadn was the one that went and got linens and towels and helped me bathe.
On the last day after I had complained several times about the pain meds burning so badly through my IV, I got a new nurse that went and looked up the order. The meds were suppose to be given IM, not IV. Perhaps had they been given correctly they would have lasted longer.
The hospital itself was a very nice hosptial, the staff was the problem.
