Northern Westchester Hospital Surgical Weight Loss Program Hospital
I feel very comfortbale with my choice. I hear he's an excellent surgeon. Dr. Roslin is with Lenox Hill, I feel like I'm in good hands there. I have to say this about Dr. Roslin's office staff...I've read terrible things about one person on his staff in particular on this board, and I disagree, I found her to be business-like and professional. So what? I don't want to be her friend. I want a good surgeon and a an office staff that'll get me approved by the insurance company. One of things I liked best about Dr. Roslin was his professionalism and honesty when I asked questions like how many patients have you lost (2 out of 1600), both due to after care complications. And, who are your competitors?
I also consulted with Dr. Garber on LI and was very displeased with him (I was truly shocked that I didn't like him as I'd heard nothing but good things about him).
4/15/03 - My opinion has not changed about Dr. Roslin. 3 words. SIMPLY THE BEST!
My consultation with Dr. Roslin was on Thursday, December 5th. He seems knowledgeable and confident in this area. Based on his presentatiion, I feel like he prefers the RNY over the Lap Band. However, when I told him I was choosing the Lap Band, he did not give me a hard time. I've heard some horror stories about his assistant Katherine but I must've caught her on a good day. He spoke briefly about aftercare and I'm not sure if his aftercare is a structured program. He spoke openly and honestly about the risks related to both surgeries. I expressed a specific religious restriction and he was very accomodating.
04/03/03 - I have learned from my insurance company that I have been doing all the leg work. Even though my surgery is scheduled for tomorrow since they have just received everything needed, it can take between 24 and 48 hours to approve. Katherine dropped the ball. The insurance company also informed me that I was doing all the calling and no calls are registered from the doctor's office.
My first impressions of Dr. Roslins are that he is easy to talk to, highly informative and you get the feeling from him that he is compassionate to the ails of obesity. He answered all my questions and explained the types of operations offered as well as explain the possible risks. I left there feeling more at ease and comfortable in my choice of him as my surgeon.
Dr. Roslin was to be my surgeon for my Lap RNY. As my luck usually goes, there was that terrible blizzard. The day before surgery, I got a call from the office, and Catherine, the office manager asked me if I would be interested in having his partner, Dr. Kurian perform the surgery. I agreed. Dr. Kurian was terrific, and came to see me each of the next 2 following days. I had a minor complication and Dr. Roslin took over at that point. I feel that I was in good hands, as they are, in my opinion two of the best that NYC has to offer----a true team. I will continue to follow up with both of them as the appointments are available.
I opted for WLS Surgery because of my health conditions and history that include Stroke, hypertension, diabetes and complications with walking and acute foot pain and after years of unsuccessful weight loss programs. I met with my surgeon, Dr. Mitchell Roslin at LENOX HILL HOSPITAL in New York City on September 19, 2002 for my consultation. It was very brief as I had been attending his monthly support groups since April, 2002 and I was very well informed of the procedures and the risks and benefits of each. Dr. Roslin told me I was an excellent candidate for WLS surgery and to proceed with the pre-op tests. Dr. Roslin has an extensive education background in bariatric surgery and heads the department at Lenox Hill, and he is highly recommended from the 100's of patients he has performed surgery on.
