The nurses and doctors went above and beyond to make sure I was doing what I needed to be doing and that I understood all the directions. Also with my complex medicine routine, the nurses (Patty, Kate, and Nancy) went above and beyond to make sure everything was added in properly (since I was already taking pain meds to begin with, my PCA stayed in until I left).

The nurses were so helpful and willing to settle my nerves and sit with me while I had blood pressure complications

The entire staff, especially Jennifer S. (RN) and Kathi (RN) really took care of me. The nursing assistants (especially Amelia) really helped out as well. There was an abundance of gowns, towels, blankets, TLC and kindness. I had a rocky road with pain medications due to allergies and the staff did everything they could to respond. My family was treated wonderfully and I have nothing but thanks to offer the bariatric staff at Methodist.

The care was great, everyone was wonderful, just needed gowns!!!!

Most importantly, not only were the doctors and nurses terrific, but you get your own private room! :-) The bariatric wing has spacious rooms where you can walk the halls and visit other bariatric patients as you shuffle past one another.
The staff was completely wonderful. I had my procedure over Christmas, and even those who had to work over the holidays were cheerful, helpful, and terrific.

The nurses on the 2 day shifts were great, the 11 pm to 7 am nurse was awful. Pain management was absolutely terrible the first night. It took a family member raising heck with the hospital to finally get a change in my pain medication, many hours after my surgery and after a lot of unecessary pain.

Some of the nursing staff was more familiar with bariatric surgery patients than others. The experienced nurses really gave some good advice.

Overall, I'd rate my experience at Methodist as good. However, I would recommend that a family member stay with you the entire night following surgery to take charge of things when the nursing staff won't listen to you and/or you're unable to be your own advocate.

For me as a patient I was well cared for by all staff but there were a couple of nurses that chose to be rude to my mother because she is in a wheelchair. This will not ever be my hospital of choice again.
