The staff was very knowledgable about the surgery and what I was going through. My only real complaint was that it was VERY noisy in my wing. The constant noise and action made it nearly impossible to rest for any length of time, I could not wait to get out of there!

My advice, bring ear plugs! LOL

I thought Dr. Fiallo was very nice when I first met him. He took his time to answer all of our questions.

My impression of him did not change over time.

His office staff could use some work. I had to have the dietition and thereapist send in their paperwork twice. I have no idea what happened to the first copies. The dietition said that happens in that office all the time. Also, paperwork was sent to my insurance company, I called to see what was happening with is they they said they did not have it. Called office and was lectured about how they don't know what they are talking about. Finally got them to call the insurance company and they found out the company does not take paper claims basically they submitted the claim wrong. Was approved within a 1/2 hr after that. Very unprofessional.

There is nothing to not like about him yet.

He believes that aftercare is very important and does emphasize it.

Everytime I spoke to him, he talked about the risks of the surgery.

Overall, I would give him a high rating.

My first impression of him was that he is realistic and profeccional. He always take his time to answer every question or doubt I have about the process.Dr. Fiallo is great but his secretary sucks!!! My process has been delay cause she is so inresponsable it took her a whole month to tell me I need to go in to the office to sign some paper before she could send it to Masshealth. She also lied to me saying that she already sent the papers out to Masshealth back in February 4,2005. I find out she didn't cause I call the insurance to check up the status of the application a month later and they did a follow up on the application and told me she never sent anything to them. So watch out for Cheryl if you seen Dr. Fiallo. But after me bothering her everyday. She already sent my papers and I'm wating for an answer by April 16,2005. But other then that He is great!!!

The nurses were outstanding and very attentive. There are 5 rooms (all private) for bariatric patients. The staff said they have seen a lot of bypass patients come through but that the lap band is increasing in popularity.

I had originally met with Dr.Fiallo in June 2001. I immediately like him, he is well spoken, with a focus on you the patient. For a surgeon he has a marvelous bed-side manner. When I finally convinced my family that WLS was my only option, I went back to him. Again he is very focused on you and your needs. He explains the various options and listens to your questions and concerns. I was very impressed that he spoke of those patients that did not do well. He explained why they did not do well and he took responsiblity for making sure that patients are informed about the good, the bad, and the ugly of this operation. Hearing what he said helped me cement my decision to have the surgery. I chose to go to Mercy Hospital in Springfield and he encouraged my decision.
Dr.Faillo is associated at Mercy with their Mercy Comprehensive Weight Loss Management Group and he sent me to them. Dr.Faillo's office is pleasant and well run. No long times waiting which I find impressive. His personal nurse is Cheryl. She is fantastic and knows what tests, forms, insurance stuff must be taken care of before the surgery can take place. This care on her part helped relieve my stress in making sure that everything was done. You just KNEW that Cheryl would be taking care of business.
All in all I am thrilled that I had the surgery and that I chose to go to Pioneer Surgical Associates, specifically Dr.Faillo

He was very informative and made me feel comfortable with the process. He was very honest about pros and cons of all procedures and let me know without hesitation which procedure he felt was best for me and my goals.

His office staff is professional and moderately helpful.

As for the rest, I don't know yet.

Quite impressed with the man. He sat down with me one on one for almost a full hour and discussed WLS. I had a great deal of knowledge going into the meeting because I had been in the intake of another program for almost a year. He answered all my questions. I have an insurance that can sometimes be challenging to work with- Aetna. He and his staff were more than willing to work with me as a team to make sure I was approved. He reviewed the Aetna service bulletin right there with his nurse and really seems willing to advocate for me so that I can obtain this surgury. (When they submitted I was approved in under a week!) Dr. Fiallo is a very experienced LAP surgeon and has an excellent reputation in the medical community.

Excellent surgical experience. I had a minor complication 6 days post op from the gallbladder removal- not the WLS itself- and he met me at 1 AM in the ER and made sure I was squared away. (It was OK- I was home in 12 hours) His demeanor is no different at 1 AM on a holiday than at 3 on a weekday afternoon. He was concerned and professional. I have had 7 friends that have also gone with Fiallo and we have all had excellent, safe experiences. I think he is your best choice in the Springfield area by far. I am almost 9 months post op and down 95 pounds and feel wonderful!

I just had surgery this week and feel that I am not able to answer these questions at this time.
