Little Company of Mary (COE) Hospital
I'm not sure yet, consult. tomorrow 2/26/2003
My first impression of Dr. Cahill was great. He took plenty of time explaining surgery, as well as the risks and benefits. Not only did he deal with me and my husbands questions, he answered all of my RN mothers questions. The office staff was very friendly, and made me feel very comfortable. (Thank you Donna and Mary)The program at LCMH is very structured with before and after care, as well as a support group.
My first impression of Dr. Cahill was very positive. He is a very gentle and genuine person. His office staff was kind and understanding especially since I was quite nervous. Dr. Cahill very clearly explained the risks involved as well as the benefits of the gastric bypass surgery. He explained that they have a very structured program before and after surgery, stressing that knowledge is the best thing you can have going into the surgery. So far I rate Dr.Cahill very high. His program leader and office staff also made a great first impression.
Overall my stay was excellent; but pre-ops PLEASE BE AWARE AND FAMILIAR with what you can and cannot have as a post-op. I was given a sugar-filled popsicle when asked for a popsicle, and it was up to ME to tell the nurses that what they gave me was full of sugar and not sugar-free.
Another drawback was that I could not dial out of the hospital on the phone and could not reach my cell phone, but that really wasn't a big deal because I didn't feel like talking to alot of people anyway.
Other than that, everything was fine. I would go to Little Company again if I needed to.
I couldn't have received better care. The staff are especially sensitive to our special needs. I was very comfortable and the nursing staff were great (especially Donna, Chandra and Kim). I was so comfortable with them that even when I had a bowel movement and couldn't bend/reach to take care of my personal hygiene, they made me feel like it was no big deal. I on the other hand thought I was going to die from embarassment. They were there whenever I needed them.
1/8/03...Meeting with Doc today.
1/8/03...Meet with Dr. Cahill, he explained the procedure for both open & lap. He went over the side affects & answered all the questions I had. He & his staff were very very nice. On 1/9/03 they are going to forward my information to my insurance company for approval. They said they should hear something within two weeks.
Dr. Cahill is professional, very thorough, friendly, competent and extremely skilled. I was also impressed by his office staff, and his surgical assistant/nurse - Tony Romeo. Tony presents an excellent and informative seminar for pre/ops. And Tony also runs the support group meetings.
Dr. Cahill is extremely concerned with his patient's aftercare and diets. Lisa Micetech is the nutritionist in his group, and Lisa not only speaks to all the pre/ops, she calls once a week to all the posties and guides us thru each weeks meal plans.
After working in the medical field for over a decade, I would rate Dr. Cahill and his staff right up there with the best!
When my OB-GYN suggested that I consider WLS, I asked her to put me in touch with some of her patients who had gone through it. One of her patients was also a patient of Dr. Cahill's. She could not say enough good things about him and his staff. I had already scheduled an appointment with another facility when I attended one of Dr. Cahill's seminars hosted by his surgical nurse, Tony. I was very impressed and was able to schedule a consultation with Dr. Cahill prior to my appointment with the other facility. I am so glad I did. I can't say enough about him and his staff. They are everything that everyone else has said about them. Very professional, caring, personable and accomodating.
Initially, my aunt was very skeptical. Now after going with me to Dr. Cahill's seminar and my consultation, she's now very supportive and comfortable with my decision to have WLS.
