Buffalo General Medical Center Bariatrics at Kaleida Health Hospital
I had my consult 2/25/04, I was a bit dissappointed. Dr. Posner was very informative, very firm, follows all guidelines and covers all the bases, very thorough.
8/12, Dr. Posner has agreed to perform surgery and is submitting to insurance. :)
Dr. Posner was absolutely great, he visited me often from recovery to discharge. He made sure I was well taken care of, and I was.
9/22, 1st post op office visit. Dr. Posner was beside himself at how well I was doing and how good I look. I owe it all to him, he's GREAT!
I, first met Dr. Posner in June 2004 after a 8 month wait. I was scheduled to have surgery October 14, 2003 with Dr. Kolli at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, I was to be Dr. Kolli's 3rd patient. My surgery was cancelled, due to a problem with his mentor. At that time I decided to go to a more expierenced surgeon, and I chose Dr. Posner. From the moment I met Dr. Posner I couldn't have been more impressed with his knowledge and credentials. I knew instantly I had made the right decision!!! I am now scheduled October 18th for surgery with Dr. Posner, at ECMC. I hope and pray all goes well, because I am the mother of 2 boys ages 7 and 5. I welcome any information, advice, support and most of all prayers!!
When I first met Dr. Posner I thought that he was a hosnest doctor and because of my extensive research on WLS, I knew he knew his stuff well. He was very open in letting you know the risk of each surgery and that I had to make the right decision for me. I liked all of his bedside manners. He told me what was expected of me before, during and after surgery. He told me the changes that I should expect. I enjoyed the fact that he invited my husband back to have the same conversation with him. He is a great doctor.-+
Dr. Posner is very professional and detailed in his approach to informing his patients about bariatric surgery. He spent two hours with me the first session and ordered tests to be done to rule out any other explanations for my obesity. He also insisted that my husband come to an appointment with me so that he could be informed of the procedure and of the risks. I would highly recommend Dr. Posner and his staff for interested patients. His surgical competence and beside manner were great. I appreciated his sometimes "brutal" (lol) honesty.
My experience with Dr. Posner has been limited to a few telephone calls to his office at the Erie County Medical Center. Basically it seems that his office is very busy, as I will not have an appointment until September 2004.
i am planning on seeing 3 surgeons, their hospitals and their weight loss ideas. Then after praying, I will decide who and where i will go. God please, help me do this.
Went to Alexian Brothers medical center, it takes about 5 months for approval. Want to go to Wish Centerin Downers Grove, Il. Leaning towards Drs. Kane & Kane, very professional and informative. My Best friend Barbara started the journey together, she's afraid to do it. Im afraid if I dont do it. My mind is made up. Need to be healthy for my kids. My husband and mom are behind me 100%.
3/1/04 Well, after all this time, I finally made up my mind and went in the see Dr. Butsch at Rush in Chicago. He is a tall, blond average-built man. He was very informative. He went through the whole surgery with the group and answered a lot of questions. My only concern is that he only has about 150 surgeries uder his belt. Well, as time goes by, he will have more I guess. Has a clean record and is very professional but you can tell has a very good bedside manner. His office staff is impeccable Jeff, is one of the assitant, cant say enough about him. Receive my prescriptions going for my abdominal and upper gi ultrasounds on Monday the 15 and psy on the 17th. Good luck to me!!! here we go
4/1/04 Did all my testing pass the pchy which was my biggest worry. Met with the Dr. I like him. Has a birthday a few days from mine, therefore he is balanced elequent and intelligent.
5/10/04 Sorry I haven't updated in a while, well have i been on a roller coaster or what? Last week, after Rush pulling the plug on all Medicaid cases, I get my approval letter today. Found another surgeon in Oak Park but Dr. Butsch's wonderful asssitant Renata knows that I am really totally heartbroken after hearing that they are no longer performing surgeries.
5/13/04. Got a call from Dr. Butsch's office, my surgery is May 27. Thank you Lord. I'm really excited, scared. God please protect me and guide me through this as you always have in my life, my beautiful children need me. Thank you Lord.

I had my 1st consult today with Dr. Posner. I thought he was down to earth and honest about the surgery. I had lots of things to say but he had 98% of them covered without my even asking. He said he will do my surgery, so after my eval and the insurance co. approving.....I'll be on my way to the losing healthier side of life. I'm 100% ready to take the journey.
My first impression was Dr. Posner was very honest & pulled no punches. He talked very openly about the risks & benefits of WLS & which one may be right for you. He even wants you to start excersizing now to get in the habit for after surgery. Dr. Posner also has you read and start the South Beach Diet as he says that is how you will have to eat after the surgery- it's not really that hard to follow =). His staff is very friendly from the few times I have dealt with them. Dr. Posner said he wanted to meet my husband before the surgery to explain the risks, benefits, & to answer any questions or concerns. He also wanted to exxplain some other the problems emotionally & phyically that I would go through after the surgery. Overall I'd say that Dr. Posner is a great guy.
Very outgoing and thorough with his explanations. Becky, his assistant is sooo comforting. I love her personality!! His clerical staff has changed since I first saw him, but so far so good. The one person who used to work there didn't belong there in my opinion. She didn't follow through with my paperwork before she left and she didn't pass it on to the new person to complete. After waiting 3 weeks, called and found out nobody knew anything then had to re-explain everything up to the point I was at. Very frustrating. When Dr. Posner found out this happened, he called me at home to apologize. He's an efficient Dr. and anyone going to see him should know that he means business when he tells you something. He doesn't drag his feet which makes things happen much smoother. His aftercare is great. He saw me after my procedure, the following day to release me, then 1 week post-op. then every 6 weeks to have my band filled. Once I'm at a point where I don't need another fill, I'll see him a couple of times a year for a follow up. He didn't sugercoat the risks of surgery. He was thorough about them. I definitely rate him and his assistant Becky a 10. What a great team they are!
