Buffalo General Medical Center Bariatrics at Kaleida Health Hospital
I HAVE NOTHING BUT GOOD THINGS TO SAY ABOUT DR. POSNER. HE IS WONDERFUL. BEING A NURSE I KNOW HOW LITTLE TIME DOCTORS SPEND WITH THEIR PATIENTS AND LET ME TELL YOU DR. POSNER IS NOTHING LIKE THEM HE SPENDS ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD WITH YOU ALL THE TIME THAT IS NEEDED. AND EVERTIME I SEE HIM HE REASURES ME AND MY HUSBAND TO CALL WITH ANY QUESTIONS EVEN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT THAT IT IS NOT A BOTHER TO HIM. HE IS VERY THOROUGH AND EXPLAINS EVERTHING. AND LIKE I SAID HIS BEDSIDE MANNER IS TREMENDOUS I WOULD RECCOMEND HIM TO ANYONE.
HIS OFFICE STAFF ARE ALSO WOMDERFUL HE HAS A DIETICIAN A PHYSICAL THERAPIST AND A NURSE PRACTITIONER ON BOARD AND THEY SEE YOU EVERY VISIT ALSO. HIS AFTERCARE PROGRAM IS THE LONG HAUL AS HE TOLD ME WE ARE GOING TO HAVE A VERY LONG RELATIONSHIP!
I met Dr. Posner on 6/7/05 along with my husband for my initial consulation. He was very personable. He took the time 30 mins. to explain everything as far as how the surgery goes and how to prepare for it and what to look forward to both negative and positive after surgery. He explained and emphasized the risks as well as the benefits of this Lap/RNY. He has a thorough before and after care (structured) and he is very strict with what he expects his patients to do before surgery. My husband and I were very impressed with him, his staff and the new wing of Buffalo General that he moved into last month specifically for Bariatric patients.
So far I am impressed with Dr. Posner. I had my first visit in 2/04. At that time he was trying to set up a bariatric surgery center somewhere in Buffalo. I waited a year to continue the process because of some serious health problems of my daughter. The last appointment I had included her. the Dr. did not speak down to her and explained the procedure, risks and how important having a positive outlook will be for me after surgery. Since she is under 18, he wants to me with my parents, who will be my health care proxies during and after surgery. I am impressed with his thoroughness and he has a pleasant manner.
I still have questions to ask at my next appointment.
My first Impression of Dr. Posner was that he was not messing around. He only wanted to deal with serious patients who new what they were getting themselves into. I was nervous that I would not meet all of his expectaions for my second visit. I had to read the South Beach Diet book and he would test me on it at my next visit.
My impression didn't change much but he is very helpful and willing to take the time to meet with you and answer any questions you have.
His office staff is very very helpful also. Lesley the Office Secretary was wonderful and able to help with the insurance aspects. The Intern Doctor that is with him is magnificent. She is up front and tells you the truth.
He is very upfront with the risks of dying from the surgery.
I would rate him to be a wonderful doctor.
I have not had surgery yet so I will update as time goes on.
I waited 8 months to see Dr. Posner. But as soon as the first appt was over, it progressed really fast. I was very impressed with Becky at ECMC. She was alway very friendly and smiley. She goes over the whole procedure before you actually talk with the Dr. The staff was very insistant that you follow Posner's every rule. I am very staisfied with Posner. He is very concerned about you, and wants you be well knowledged about the procedure. I would reccommend him highly.
I was very impressed with Dr. Posner and his medical staff. They were very sensitive and informative.
After my initial meeting with him, I only became more impressed.
Dr. Posner's medical staff was great. HIs office staff, however, were very impatient and I didn't want to deal with them.
He may have a long wait, but he is very thorough once you get in and he is worth the wait!
Dr. Posner believes in following a modified version of the South Beach diet after surgery and makes sure you understand it before he even considers surgery.
He gives you a sheet of aftercare instructions, but it isn't very structured. Most of his instructions are delivered verbally. Thankfully there are websites and support groups like these that come in handy!
Dr. Posner does address all the risks associated with surgery in general as well as complications associated with Bariatric surgery.
So far, he has been excellent!
I think both surgical competence and bedside manner are important. Bedside manner puts your fears at ease.
Dr. Posner and his staff are all very nice. I was petrified after my 1st visit as he really stresses the bad things that could go wrong. But I was still going thriugh with it. At my next visit he was very pleasant and going over the bad stuff again !! It was still a go though. I got my surgery date and list of stuff to buy and was on my way. He really stresses the after care and excercise. He even talks to your family members and stresses the bad things that could go wrong. He makes sure you are going to have support also. At the Hospital he is so comforting and you feel relaxed. After surgery Dr. Posner and Dr. Forbes both took care of me along with other members of his staff. I felt like I was in really good hands. I rate Dr. Posner a 10. I have already refered Dr Posner to other people thinking about the surgery. He is by far the greatest. I wish however I had a bigger list of foods (puried) that I can eat.
I like Dr. Posner, he is kind, but open and honest. He is well respected.
No changes in my opinion of Dr. Posner.
Very helpfull, generous and kind.
He is very busy, i had to wait a year for my first visit with Dr. Posner.
He wants you to have all your tests and bloodwork done BEFORE he schedules the surgery.
He stresses it very strongly. He insists on its importance.
Yes
Yes, he is very open about this, and he wants you to bring someone with you so they can help you understand the risks.
I would give Dr. Posner an 9 out of 10
Both great
My first impression of Dr. Posner, was that he was a handsome, knowledgable doctor. My impression at my 6th month check up was still the same. His office staff is exceptionally nice, especially Leslie and Becky. They are always there to offer advise and answer any questions or concerns that you have. The thing that I liked least about Dr. Posner, was that I felt like I was a statistic. He only wanted to know the facts, which is the difference between your primary doctor and a surgeon. I would strongly recommend him to any future patients, as he definitely knows what he is doing. He does not have a structured aftercare program at the current time. I would have liked to consult with a dietician on how to eat and prepare foods nutritionally. He did address the risks of surgery. I had learned considerable information from the internet on the risks, and he reaffirmed every one of them. I would rate him as a top-notch surgeon. He is new to gastric-bypass, and I would like to see him get a structured program in place for gastric-bypass patients. His surgical competence and bedside manner are both great!
