The hospital has a floor for Bariatric patients. While thre are a few other patients are mixed in, it is basically a Baratric Surgery Unit. The nurses are well educated in the procedure and some of them have actually had the operation themselves. Imagine goint to the hospital and finding Carpeted hallways, Shiny wooden floors in your room and a huge modern private room. With, I might add, a comfortable place for your spouse or friend to sleep on if they decide to spend the night to help you.
My wife has had her surgery and everything went great! I would really like to tell the world about Dr. McDaniel and his "team". Yes, his "team" that he has put together has made this a great experience for my wife. We had to drive about two hours to get to his office. On the first day, his staff had arranged for us to do the following. #1 Gall Bladder scan. #2 Dietary class with registered diatician. #3 One on one meeting with a psycotherapist. #4 Evaluation by his Physician's assistant #5 A visit with the doctor himself. #6 A group session with other gastric bypass patients.
This doctor is an intelligent, caring, thorough, self confident person. If you choose to be operated on by him, you are expected to follow his instructions. You are also required to make follow up visits with him and he wants you to continue with group therapy sessions. In other words, you are NOT on your own after the surgery. He and his team are there at any time that you have a question or need. I feel very lucky and blessed that we found this fine doctor.

Beautiful rooms, very helpful, attentive staff. Many of the nurses there have had the RNY procedure so they knew what I was going through.
I had a great experience here. Everyone from nursing staff, Physicians and ancillary staff members provided escellent care. I am an RN myself and i feel I received excellent nursing care. Would definitely recommend Citizens to anyone considering WLS
Met with Dr. Mc Daniel yesterday for my consult. He was very nice, laid back and easy to talk to. He addressed my concerns about leaking and blood clots since I'd had previous varicose surgery and didn't know if that would put me more at risk. He said that he takes extra care to make sure there are no leaks in the pouch and explained how he does that. After talking to him I felt very confident that I'd chosen the right surgeon. His staff was all very nice. Ron his PA was great and explained the procedure and answered any questions I had. I had been spending so much time on this web site reading about these people that I felt like I knew them before I met them. I feel fortunate the I found the program at Citizen's Bariatric Center in Victoria, TX and I know I'm in good hands with Dr. Mc Daniel doing my surgery.
I believe this hospital did a very good job of taking care of me. From admission to discharge they were wonderful. Room was very big with wonderful chairs and the bed was not even so bad.
Dr. McDaniel was very warm and informitive on my first visit with him and his staff. He took the time that I needed and my questions were answered. After my surgery he was very supportive of my problems. His staff is wonderful esp. Ron his P.A. very nice and helpful and funny. His office staff treated me with respect and I want to thank them for it.
