Citizens Medical Center Hospital
The nursing staff was less than wonderful when I was there. A few of the nurses were SO great and attentive and caring and others were not at all. I had to call 4 times to get pain medication and there were only 3-4 patients on the whole floor! Also, a couple of the nurses kept telling me, 'when you have the bypass...' and I had the band! how hard is it to read the chart!? However, I feel the xray department was excellent and having my Upper GI was the best experience I had during my stay.
I had met Dr mc Daniel before my surgery consult as I am a nurse at CMC where he operates. I always liked his stright forward approach with patients and was very comfortable asking questions and voicing my concerns and fears. I havent had any problems with his office staff. His nurse Jennifer is great and if she doesnt have an answer for you she will get the answer and get back with you. The office does have a structured aftercare program. Once a month visits with the nurse . I woukd of liked to seen the Dr more often than waiting until 6 month mark, especially in the first few months. I feel like the risks and benefits were explained in a reasonable manner and felt I was an informed patient. I rate Dr Mc Daniel and his staff highly and feel that he has good bedside manner as well as surgical competence. I have had no surgical complications.
I have met with Dr. McDaniel twice now and I find him to be very reassuring. He is very patient and took his time to address all my concerns. I am very confident that I have chosen the right surgeon. He has a great staff his PA Ron is wonderful very considerate and explains the procedure in detail and answers all your questions in fact he doesn't leave the room until he is sure he has answered all your questions. He took extra time on my second visit to explain this procedure to my 15 yr old son. Veronica his scheduling coordinator was great even with me probably driving her crazy with phone calls nearly every day. I met 3 patients of Dr. McDaniels a few days ago at support group who have had surgery in the last 3 weeks everyone is doing great some felt so great they went back to work after only a week. I feel like he and his PA were careful to cover all the risk and benefits I never felt pressured to have the surgery it has always been my decision and mine alone. I find that he has a aftercare program that seems to be superior than that offered by other surgeons.
All the staff in Dr. McDaniel's office seem to be nice and friendly and very helpful. The Doctor is very young and seems to really care about his patients. My parents know a retired doctor in Victoria. My mother called to ask his wife (a retired nurse) if they knew Dr. McDaniel. She told mom, she knew he and his wife and family very well and he was doing excellent work and really helping a lot of people make wonderful changes in their lives and she highly recommended him. It certainly helps to know someone who thinks so highly of the doctor you are placing so much trust in. After meeting him in the office and then later at a pouch pals meeting in Corpus Christi, I agree with her assessment. He really seems to care about his patient's health and well being for the long haul, not just the short term.
First impression, wow, he looks so young! He still looks young, however; after speaking with him regarding the surgery he is very intelligent and specializes in laparoscopic surgery. The staff is very friendly. Can't think of anything negative about anyone there. Dr. McDaniel answered all of my questions truthfully and quickly. I feel much better about having the surgery now. I believe his competence is great and bedside manner, well that's yet to come.
Dr. McDaniel has a pefectly wonderful bedside manner. He spends time with you answering all your questions and making sure your comfortable. I am completely satisfied with my care at the hospital and Crossroads Surgical Associates.
This Dr. is heaven sent. He really cares for his patients. He makes sure that his office staff is there to help in anyway. He has commited his time to having a support group that meets once a month. He brings in anyone
that can help the needs of the support group.
He emphasizes before and aftercare. He is very good at what he does. I can asure you that you are in the best of care. His surgical competence and bedside matter are the best.
