Dr.Dyer is wonderful. I can't say enough good things about him. He is very straightforward on the risks and complications of the surgery. He takes the time to listen and answer any questions. He has a great staff, the staff is very attentive to the patients needs and never rude. He has a great bedside manner, one that is caring. Overall I would recommend anyone considering gastric surgury to have Dr. Dyer as thier surgeon.

My first impression of Dr. Dyer was good. It was in the ed. seminar that he conducted. He was all business and did an excellent job of telling about the surgery. At our consult (my husband and me), I found him to be friendlier and easy to talk to. I have only heard good things about from my support group. My surgery is 2/27/03 and Terry's is 3/11/03 so I'll post again later.

We are now 5 months out from surgery. I have lost 90 lbs and Terry has lost 100. We are more than pleased with Dr. Dyer. He is kind and so skilled. We call Robin (his nurse) with questions alot and she always checks with him and promptly returns our calls. He is GREAT! We could not have asked for a better surgeon, he would get our recomendation any day! He emphasizes the aftercare alot. It is as important as the surgery itself.

It took about 2 months just to get in to see Dr.Dyer then once I arrived for my appt. I had to wait for 3 hours before getting back into a room. I could hear him going into the patients rooms beside me -even though I had been called back first- Seeing as I had a 3 hour drive back home I thought that was a little inconsiderate but I guess thats just part of it. He talked to me for 10 minutes looked at my gallbladder scars and we both went home for the day...not together,of course. haha I was given a date for 5 months later but the reputation is worth the wait.
He seems very professional and stresses a detailed aftercare program which is good so that he can keep me on track. I've heard so many good things about him that I don't mind if he may not be Mr.Personality or punctual. I trust him with my life that should say something.

Dr. Olsen was wonderful. My first consultation w/him was extremely thorough. He not only verbally explained every tiny detail of what was to come he also sat right next to me and drew pictures and wrote down things of importance. He has a confident approach to this surgery and lets you feel you are in very capable hands. His staff, especially Terry, is great and very friendly and light hearted. He strongly emphasizes aftercare and lets you know exactly what he expects of you. He is very straight forward and upfront of all the risks of this surgery including death. I would rate Dr. Olsen a 10 out of 10.

My first impression of Dr. Olsen was that he is very concerned about his patients and that he follows us closely, feeling that he and his patient are equal partners and he expects a lot out of himself and his patient. Follow up is very important as are support groups. He has a structured aftercare program. My initial contact with him occurred when he spoke at the informational seminar that I attended at Centennial in Nov. 2002. I had my initial consult Feb. 11. I was even more impressed with him. He is very kind and very serious. He expects his patient to go into this with conviction. He is very explicit in explaining all the risks of the surgery. He went over this again during my pre-op appt. His assistant Terry is awesome, as are all the folks in his office. I have already referred several people to him. On a scale of one to ten, right now I would rate him a ten. My surgery is April 7. I will post more post op. I must also praise Debbie Thompson and her staff at the Center for the Treatment of Obesity. If it were not for her and Lisa Ferrell's hard work, I may have never received approval from my insurance.
I am now post op one week. My opninion is now an 11 on a scale of 10. He aewsome! Many nurses said that her is the best surgeon there. I find that to be very reassuring!

I attended the seminar for Dr.Olsen in Nashville on November 19, 2002. My first impression of him was a good one he seems very skilled at Gastric Bypass and wants you to be very informed on the procedure and to understand that this is a "Tool" not a fix to your weight problem. I went to my first consultation with him on February 19, 2003 and again after the consultation my first impression has remained the same. I feel very comfortable with having Dr. Olsen as a surgeon thus far. On a personal level I have some insight into Dr. Olsen as a surgeon because he has performed surgery on my maternal Grandmother in the past. Dr Olsen stresses aftercare and I like that about him I would not want to feel like I was floating out there on my own with no guidance. This was a real plus. I would rate Dr. Olsen a 7 because of my limited time wiith him (2 meetings) and I have not had the surgery yet. I will rate him again Post-op.

My first impression of Dr. Olsen was if he could help save my life?

I really like his office staff. Terri has really been supportive.

Dr. Olsen is really a great surgen he wants his pts to become healthy. There are sometimes though when I think he is not as happy as I am with my choices.

I chose Dr. Olsen because of referrals from people I know. He was at the first seminar I attended. He is very professional, takes time to make sure you know the risks of the surgery. He explained why he uses the particular type of surgery that he does. He was very supportive both before surgery, in the hospital and afterwards. I had to make a return trip to the hospital a day after I got home and he was wonderful.

My first impression was that he really cared and it was not all about money with him. His office staff is wonderful. Aftercare is very structured. One down side is (I am told)is that you can never please him with your weight loss, that he rides you pretty hard.

He helped pioneer lap surgery and was able to do mine by lap. Although he told me going into surgery that he might not be able to do it that way but that he would try his best - and he did!

I would rate him very high and both his surgical competence and bedside manner are both great.

My first Impresion of him was kindness. After you visit with him you realize Oh man he is all buisness, but, he is really just concerned about you and is gentle, has a good bedside manner. His staff is busy, but nice and seem to go out of there way for you. The thing I liked least about Dr. Dyer, is I truely can't think of anything he was fantastic. If you are a future patient understand you don't really see him unless you need to. His after care is emphasized at every opportunity. He also emphasizes pre-op care as well. yes he has a after care program. He addressed risks in his seminar and at his initial visit. I would rate Dr. Dyer a 20 out of 10. Surgical competence is wonderful as his bedside manner is more professional, but wonderful.
