My doc is amazing,a little reserved but one on one he is very connected to his patients for the long haul. I feel like God set me in wonderful hands!!! I feel very safe and cared for!!! The whole center is amazing!!! The front secrataries are not always polite or professional, sometimes that bothers me,but the main people are ment t do what they do!I did not get to spend alot of time with my doc at the long awaited "sureons visit"(which means a surgical date is very close).Dr.Shikora is a surgeon I will confortably recommend to anyone!! Aftercae is essential and not to be taken lightly and he goes into much detail. Surgical risks were comfronted straight on and honestly. So far I can rate my experience 2wks. before surgery a defonate 10.It may sound to good to be true, but so far we are very happy,I still have surgery to get through though...

I found Dr Robinson to be very knowledgable and kind.

Didn't see him much during the post op stay, so hard to say. Have only seen him once as follow up and he was ok.

I found his staff very kind and helpful. His PA was superb!

I found he had kind of a rushed type personality but I suppose he is a very busy doctor.

Forget any personality of any surgeon...all that mattered to me was that he was an excellent surgeon and my care was great.

Follow up appts with himself as well as the dietician are the aftercare program I am on. The dietician, Natalie Egan is amazing and I am thrilled with her. She listens and is so helpful, truly someone who loves her work.

He made sure I knew what the worst was that could happen...but as a consumer and as a nurse, I was well aware of those risks. The risks of doing nothing were far more dangerous to me than having the surgery.

I rate him as an excellent choice for a surgeon.

I'd like both, but am more than happy to settle for an ok bedside manner with excellence in surgical competence.

Dr. Shikora seemed very interested in having contact with his patients
I saw him once before the surgery, the day of the surgery and during my hospital stay and then once again when he took the staples out - after that it was a PA who saw me.
Office & staff were wonderful
He did not look after me and his PA didn't listen to my problems with nausea and I suffered for 3 months before I demanded and got compazine! Make sure he listens to you.
I haven't seen them for months - there is support groups that meet at night and on a Saturday - I didn't find them helpful most of the people were boasting about how they were able to eat foods we should stay away from and that they could drink beer, etc.
He fully informed me of all the risks but no one seemed to care about my discomfort and long delays before calls were returned. I still would go to him again for the surgery.
The dietician was the BEST!!! She was there right away for me and called ASAP to talk with me. As always they better be good at doing their surgical procedures, however bedside manner has to be right along side that skill - we will need it after the surgery!!!
Anyway, these are just my personal comments and observations and I have heard from other people only wonderful and positive things about him so I still think I went to the best doctor to have the surgery.

My surgery was done with Dr Tarnoff as my surgeon but since it was laproscopic it was with Dr Tarnoff and Dr Shikora. Dr Shikora has certainly built a great reputation for himself and I will have to say that he is an excellent surgeon. Dr Tarnoff was an option for me to get into surgery a little sooner than waiting for an appointment with Dr Shikora. I was a little nervous at first because he was "the new guy". I am very glad I got past those reservations. Since Dr Tarnoff is not even listed here I thought it might be appropriate to say something about him. He is young but very patient and willing to explain everything in detail. He makes a patient feel at ease and I appreciated his frankness. I believe he is an asset to the Obesity Consult Center. He was a great support to me when I had some post op complications and I have to say that I am very glad that I decided to go with Dr Tarnoff. Thanks for everything!

Dr. Shikora was very personable, professional and to the point, which I loved about him. He described everything wonderfully, he answered every question I had going into the consultation before I ever had to ask! He is performing my surgery on January 24th, he wouldn't be doing so if I didn't have 100% faith in him!

dr. shikora and dr. tarnoff did my surgery laprascopically. I have nothing but the utmost respect for these dr.'s. dr. tarnoffs bedside manner i feel is unbelievably fantastic. i feel like you can just sit and talk with him and am very comfortable kind of like a friend. he doesnt have that uppity dr. personality. at first i felt he was so young but through it all i am very lucky to have him as my dr. dr. tarnoff is new to the obesity clinic but i believe he has been a godsent directly to me.

I have met with Dr tarnoff Dr Shikorra's associate , Dr tarnoff was nice and professional he was great about explainig the surgical procedures on an easy to understand level
I am looking forward to meeting with both DR tarnoff and Shikorra again . T he office is busy but the staff will not rush you
The processes is long I called fro an appt approximately a year ago it is busy but worth it for the changes it will provide
There is a great stress on pre care and aftercare there are informational groups held at various times and the attendance at these groups is also looked at as part of the evaluation of readiness for surgery
The Dr did aaddress the risks of surgery and also the risks of obesity and how they compare with each other
I am satisfied so far with the choice I have made with NEMC
