Extremely versed knowledgeable and sincerely dedicated to his surgical profession.

VERY KIND. Enjoys making people happy with their surgery.

Dr. Shikora and his team are fabulous. They check and double-check everything. He is very kind and takes the time to answer all your questions. As of this writing (2-14-01), I'm a month away from surgery. I'll admit that I'm very scared but I know this is the right decision and have complete confidence in Dr. Shikora.

I can't say enough about Dr. Shikora. He always made sure I understood exactly what was going on. There were complications after surgery but he never missed a beat. This is not a team that lets you "slip through the cracks". He exudes cool confidence and has the expertise to follow through. His angel hands are my life saver....literally!

Only compaint is that you always had to check that the kitchen wasn't sending you up the wrong foods. They would send regular instant breakfast, rather than sugar free.

I am impressed with the experience, technology and medical staff at Brigham & Women's, however, during my particular stay the nursing staff seemed short-handed and many a time I sat waiting for hours for someone to come see to my needs. They were always more than helpful, when they were available. One nurse in particular, Noreen McNally (I think) was wonderful - she was my weekend nurse and she was greatly short-staffed, but did her best to see that I had everything I needed!

January, 2002: Dr. Robinson is a patient person. He let me have as much time as I needed to ask as many questions as possible, answering each one. He was informative about the procedures he performs, and the pro's and con's of this surgery.

March, 2002: I was a little disappointed that I didn't get to see Dr. Robinson before I went in for surgery. Last thing I remember before I went to sleep was the nurses talking to me, reassuring me. I did see Dr. Robinson however, on my second day in the hospital when he came to check up on me.

April, 2002: I had my first follow-up with Dr. Robinson on the 8th. His staff are amazing - I met first with one of his PA's and she removed my staples. I had a brief visit with Dr. Robinson, however he was very reassuring and positive about my surgical results.

I believe he is a knowledgable, experienced surgeon who cares for his patients, and has a wonderful after-care program!

Dr. Shikora is very easy to talk to and has a great bedside manner. Aftercare is stressed from the very beginning - they want to see you for the rest of your life.

The nursing staff after surgery left a lot to be desired. I felt like I could just lay there and die and nobody would notice. Thank goodness for my mom.

Dr.Robinson was very nice and his staff has been great, especially Jennifer his secretary. The dietician was so helpful and answered most of my questions before I could even ask. I only met Dr. Robinson once and I should be seeing him for pre op.

I haven't met Dr. Shikora yet, but his staff is wonderful. I have met Dr. Vogel who is so kind and caring. Next I will meet Dr. Saltzman. I chose to travel to Boston because of the wonderful program that they have. They offer so much support both before and after the surgery. They have monthly support groups that are informative as well as fun. I am very happy with my decission so far.

I finnally met with the surgeon. I didn't met with Dr. Shikora because he was in Italy, but I did meet with Dr. Tarnoff who was absolutely wonderful. He answered all my questions. I am so glad that I waited! If you are looking to have this surgery done quickly, you shouldn't goto NEMC, but if you are looking for a lot of support to ensure your sucess, then look no further. NEMC is dedicated to it's patients. The staff is wonderful and I am truly happy with my decision.

Dr. Shikora was wonderful. Very professional and straight-forward.
He didn't mislead me and was very serious
about aftercare and follow-up. I knew much more than I cared to before the surgery and
and the staff was competent and compassionate.

the only thing I was not lhappy about was when I was discharged they got a wheel chair for me which I could not even sit in because it was tooo narrow so I had to walk to the main lobby to get my ride, with the weakness I had it wasn't a great experience. that I would have changed.
