Brigham and Women's Center for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Hospital
He seemed very kind and caring very warm not at all like I thought he would be. I had been to the information session and had all my questions typed out and ready. I had one sheet and my sister had another copy I asked my questions and she wrote the answers down so he got my full attention as he answered me. The office staff could not have been better. Everyone as busy as they are never seemed to rush you along. I think that he is a very strict Dr. and wants you to do as he ask so he can do his job. Told me all the risk and made sure I had all the infomation I needed. I like the fact that you will be followed by him for the next 5 years at least. I want into hime with some douts but he put them all to reast I am overall very happy with him and his staff. Only thing I wish they had sent me all the papper work in the mail to fill out before I got their that morning.
I can't think of enough good things to say about Dr. Robinson. He's not a person given to a dramatic sense of humor, but he's a very competent, skilled, and sensitive surgeon. My entire experience was as pleasant as can be expected. Expect to receive most of your pre and post-op information from his physician assistant plus the arsenal of professionals at Brigham and women's. He's strictly the surgeon, folks. If you need your hand held, call your Mom. I preferred to have a clear-headed, serious surgeon and I found one in Dr. R. I'm now a bit over 1 year post-op and with Dr. R's help, I'm now at "normal" weight.
Dr. Robinson is very professional, not overly talkative but pleasant when speaking with me. The office staff is great. Jennifer who books the appointments over the phone is the nicest person. All the PA's I met were great. Very freindly and informative made me feel very comfortable asking them anything. The entire process was very organized.
He is very to the point kind of man. He knows his job and I am very confident is his knowledge and his abilities. If you are looking for coddling and hand holding, Dr. Robinson is not the surgeon for you. And that is the type of surgeon I want. But he could be a little bit softer around the edges but he is very competent surgeon. And as for the office staff and the P.A.'s they are just incredible. Very helpful, quick with getting things moved along, and will answer all your questions. I am still pre-op but so far I rate them (Dr. Robinson and his entire staff) a 12 between 1-10 (with 10 being the highest)
My first impression of Dr.Robinson was that he's very serious and straight forward, almost intimidating.
As I got to know Dr.Robinson I realized that he is very serious about detail, he leave nothing to chance, all bases are covered, which to me tells me that he is a master at his craft.
His office staff is very professional, always willing to answere any and all questions no matter how silly you may think it is, and they go out of their way to make you feel at ease.
The least thing that I did not care for about Dr. Robinson was that he does not smile very much, or laugh, or make silly little jokes to make you feel better. Future patience of Dr. Robinson should know that he is very serious and he wants what he wants no exceptions. His emphasis on aftercare is very much stress as part of the program. Yes, he has a structured aftercare program. Hes addressed the risk as fact and figures. I woudl rate Dr. Robinson as A+++. I think the best thing for Dr. Robinson is his surgical competence, his bedside manner could use some serious work.
My first impression was that he was down to earth and did not paint a pretty picture of the WLS, but I think he wants to show me the bad side to make sure I understand the seriousness of it.
Now that I understand that he appears a bit pessamistic, I am able to accept his lack of bedside enthusiasm.
There is one office member that is somewhat rude, but the rest of the team member make up for her. I especially liked the nutritionist, Phyillis.
There is a great structured program that starts from the day you ask about surgery and for years after. This program includes support meeting once a month, regular meetings with a psychologist, a nutritionist, an internist and group support groups.
I will write more AFTER my surgery. Their response time is excellent and their sincerity is exceptional.
