Alexian Brothers Medical Center (COE) Hospital
Overall, it was a good experience. The only thing I didn't like was that I wasn't given a shower until the day I left. And only then when I commented on it. Apparently I was supposed to ask to be clean. I didn't think this was normal and wasn't too appreciative of their attempts to put the blame on me. Also, I had a little incident with my IV where it came out and spilled on my bed. They didn't change the sheets until I left to have my leak test. Otherwise, the nurses were great and the docs kept checking in to see how things were going.
I thought the nurses were pretty good. Most of my experience was spent in ICU and the nurses there were very responsive. I received pain medication when needed, and they gave me a sponge bath at 2am because I was itching all over. Once I moved out of ICU one of the nurse technicians gave me my first shower. That woman was an angel. She got in the shower with me and scrubbed EVERYTHING. It felt so good. ****Update. I was re-admitted for 5 days before they determined my gallbladder needed to come out. I thought the nurses on the 4th floor did an excellent job. They were very responsive with my pain medication and very sympathetic when I broke down and cried. My treatment in the ER both times was also very good. Again, they were very courteous and responsive.
