Alexian Brothers Medical Center (COE) Hospital
I received exceptional care. They always introduced themselves, checked my id bracelet and informed me of what they were going to do.
The only bad thing is that they seem a little short staffed on Sunday afternoon/evenings. Some of the nurses let the iv alarms go off until you call them to reset it. In the middle of the night I felt like going to the persons room beside me to silent his alarm. I know if I can hear it that the nurses can too. This only happened on Sunday, so I assumed they were understaffed on that day.
From the moment I came in to to pre-op thru the recovery room and into my hospital room, I was treated with kindness and compassion. They took care of my every need and anticipated what I needed before I even asked for it. If I had pain they didn't want me to have pain, if I was warm they found me a fan, they bathed me when I couldn't do it myself and they made sure I had swabs for my mouth because I could have not a drop of anything. They made what could have been a very hard and lonely week much easier and I felt very safe. The team on Surgical 6 East was outstanding to me. Amy & Amy, Sarah, Cassie, Anna, Laura and Gerald are the best!
I heard that Alexian is building a new area for weight loss patients. I hope that is true. They use regular beds for patients, and put me in a small room with a lady that just had a hysterrectamy sp? She was in so much pain, and I felt bad telling her I had an "elective" surgery when she just had her organs removed and was only in her 30's.
