Michael Schuhknecht Bariatric Surgeon MD
I liked my surgeon immediately. He was down to earth, informative, funny, pacient and genuinely concerned. Before the surgery he came up to talk with me, and talked with reassurance all the way until I was under. What I remember after surgery was very minimal, but I do remember him being there to comfort me. I was confident and ready because of him. His office staff was WONDERFUL! I had a phone relationship with one person for over 6 months due to insurance issues, but when I finally came into the office after surgery she walked into the room and game me a huge hug. Then I said, "Oh, you must be Amanda." It was wonderful.
The one thing that I was not happy with was that no doctor came to discharge me from the hospital, so I felt like I had a lot of questions go unanswered. But after going home, I called the office and had all of my questions answered.
He's WONDERFUL and very down to earth! He tells it like it is! He holds nothing back! He's also very dedicated and caring! I would recommend him to anyone! He said he was going to be a pain in my ass! It's just because he cares! And I appreciated that! Do you know that they do over 20 patients a week and he still remember my situation and personal questions that I asked him over two weeks after surgery! That's what I call a DOCTOR! His office staff is very professional. His manner is human and caring!
Dr. Schuhknecht has been awesome. I liked him right away and feel like he really cares about me even though he doesn't really know me. I can feel his passion for his work and that is very impressionable. I am SO very happy that he is my surgeon and have had the priveledge of having him perform his work on me.
Put me at ease immediately. My impression only got more positive. His office staff is friendly and helpful. The only negative was I didn't see him personally in the hospital after the surgery but by an associate. He is a great surgeon. He is very knowledgeable and treats you like an individual. He puts alot of emphasis on aftercare which is structured. It provides a condusive atmosphere for success. He didn't downplay any of the risks of surgery, giving me an explanation for every death(very few and far below the national average) in his practive. Dr. Schuchknecht is an excellent doctor and I feel very lucky to have found him. I would say they are both great.
Dr, Schuhknecht is part of the Dr's considered to be the "Dream Team". They make dreams come true. I love him for being so attentive to me even though he is flowing with several hundreds of other patients. His staff was very helpful, especially Chucky, she takes out time with you to help you to iron out any issues or concerns.
Dr. Schuhknecht is one of the most caring, professional doctors I've ever met. Not only did he explain the whole process and the risks thoroughly he emphasized the importance of exercise and proper nutrition needed after surgery. His staff is extremely professional and sensitive to the needs of their patients.
In pre-op he told me and my husband that he was going to "look at everything" since I was already opened up. It's a good thing that he has adopted this pro-active attitude. He did find a tumor (benign, thank heavey) that he removed. I never knew it was there. My husband (all 150 lbs of him) told me about it in my hospital room. He looked at me and said that he didn't care if I didn't lose an ounce but that finding that tumor was the best thing that could have happened because of my surgery.
Thank you, Dr. Schuhknecht, from a very grateful wife, mother, daughter, sister and grandmother.
Great speaker, answered all questions,he seemed down to earth and easy to speak to .I was very impressed !I can not say enough good things about him .The office staff was also very nice, made you feel comfortable. He stresses after care. Since my surgery I have say I like my doctor even more, I had to page him when I returned home from the hospital due to a minor complication and he returned my page in less than a minute.I could not believe it, wish I could find a pcp that is as dedicated to his patients as my surgeon is.
