Matter of fact and to the point. The staff was very helpful. Not much help in the aftercare portion though. I was pleased overall.

Have not as yet met the man, but have spent time discussing my case with his informative surgical coordinator, Chris Aerosmith. Chris gave me the information needed to start the insurance battle. He also told me that I would be an excellent candidate for a "Laproscopic Procedure"

I haven't gotten to meet Dr. McCarty-he is way too busy. I hope to meet him at the seminar. I may meet Dr. Kuhn also-I hear he is not quite as busy as Dr. Mc.

3/5/01
I went to his information seminar on 1/11/01 and 2/8/01 and was very impressed with how professional it was done. I have also met Dr. McCarty when I went with a patient of his to her 2 week check-up and saw him when I have been visiting his patients in the hospital and every time I see him I get more and more impressed. I haven't even had my consult with him yet and I can already see what his *bed-side manner* is and I rate him a 10!!!

I will be attending his seminar on 2/8/01

Dr McCarty & Dr Kuhn's seminar was very informative. I went with a list of questions and all were answered by the time I left!

Sorry haven't updated in a while. Still trying to get approval from insurance co.
Finally got approval from insurance agency and I am scheduled for my surgery on Dec 15th. I can't wait will go get my uGI and Echo on DEc 11th. Well bad news for me. I have had some problems. I was in the operation room and was asleep when my blood oxygen level fell to a very low level and had to be pulled out of my sleep. We figure it is my smoking so I am gonna quit and maybe in 4 to 6 weeks I can have another stab at it.

1/3/01 Today I got some good news. I saw my pulmanary doctor and did some tests and finally got the ok to do the surgery again. Now I just have one minor setback to go. My insurance provider changed over the first of the year to United Healthcare. So we sent another request for the surgery. I am confident I will get approval I just wish It would hurry up and get here.

Dr. McCarty is terrific. He seems to care a great deal about his patients. He comes with high credentials in surgery and goes to great lengths to explain the surgery procedures, risks, and aftercare. His staff is very helpful and competent. His procedures are done at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, and I have to say, I have never had better treatment. Everyone there was very friendly, kind, and helpful.

Dr. McCarty was very kind at our initial consult. He took his time with me and answered all of my questions. He also explained the surgery, risks, and benifits in great detail. He told me all about his education and backround and I went away from that visit feeling very lucky to have found him. Now that I have actually had my surgery, I like him even better!! He did an excellent job on my surgery and has been extremely attentive post-op. He has also hired Chris who is a PA, and he also handles insurance for RNY patients, and patient questions. He is a complete sweetie pie as well. Dr. McCarty and Chris have been great about answering any and all of my questions. They never make you feel like you are wasting their time. Dr. McCarty now has an aftercare meeting once a month, and I think this will be of a great help to me. Dr. McCarty is an excellent surgeon as well as having an excellent bedside manner. I would reccomend him without reservation.

I met Dr. McCarty at the Jan 11th meeting. I found the meeting to be a wonderful ideal. I am glad I was approve and would wait forever for this Dr. to be my surgeon. I will say this Chris in Dr. McCarty's office is a wonderful human. He is so understanding and the kindness he gives off is so comforting. I have also spoken with Sharon and Debbie and both were kind and understanding. This office seems like a well oiled machine. I haven't found a squeak yet but will let you know if I do.
THANK YOU DR. MCCARTY AND STAFF!!!!!!!

Actually my insurance company found him he is kind considerate and caring. My impression is even better today he sees my smile and is happy for me.The office staff is great and informative and helpful all the time.I was totally in awe of him and the time he took with me no negatives. He is getting to be widely known in the metroplex and well respected.Aftercare is a premium we meet once a month and says to call if needed and have emails of other patients for aid.The aftercare program just started and I have high expectations for it as a tool on my to my goal.He was the 2nd doctor I had gone to and I had known of the risks from the 1st one.I give him a 10 very high all the way around in quality, quantity and bedside manner. In closing I thank my insurance company for finding the right doctor for me !
