My first impression of Dr. McCarty is that he is one very busy man. My first visit I briefly met w/him and then he got called to hospital on an emergency. The first visit my husband and I went through tons of paperwork with Chris, and may I just say he is a very wonderful, kind and caring young man. I chose to reschedule w/Dr.McCarty after waiting a couple of hours. My next visit with Dr. McCarty went very well, found him to be extremely informative and helpful. His office staff were all very nice and attentive. I am not scheduled for surgery until 10/11/01 so I don't know how his bedside manner and surgical competence are, however; with all the research I have done I feel 100% in competent hands. Will update further after surgery.

He is very caring and knowledgeable. I've only had one personal visit but I really like him.

I ATTENDED THE FEBRUARY 8, 2001 SEMINAR AT BAYLOR AFTER SEEING A PIECE ON THE LOCAL ABC NEW ABOUT DR MCCARTY DOING THIS SURGERY. MY FIRST IMPRESSION WAS A VERY GOOD ONE. I AM AN RN WORKING IN A HOSPITAL SO I HAVE HIGH EXPECTATIONS FOR SOMEONE I MIGHT BE CONSIDERING DOING MY SURGERY. I TOOK NOTES THROUGHOUT THE SEMINAR AND FELT HE ANSWERED ALL MY QUESTIONS AND THEN SOME. AFTER THE SEMINAR, I WAS ABLE TO MEET DR MCCARTY AFTERWARDS AND CONTINUED TO BE IMPRESSED WITH HIM. THE OFFICE STAFF HAVE BEEN WONDERFUL, EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE SO BUSY. I HAD MY OFFICE CONSULTATION IN APRIL AND WAS SCHEDULED FOR SURGERY THAT DAY. MY SURGERY IS SCHEDULED FOR JULY 12. IT SEEMED SUCH A LONG TIME IN THE FUTURE THEN, BUT NOW I AM LESS THAT 2 WEEKS AWAY FROM IT. I AM NOT NERVOUS BUT BECOMING VERY EXCITED ABOUT THIS. I HAVE BEEN OVERWEIGHT MY ENTIRE ADULT LIFE. SO FAR, I WOULD GIVE DR MCCARTY A 10. NOW ON WITH THE SURGERY

Dr. McCarty was great. His staff is very knowledgeable, especially Chris Arrowsmith, he handles everything until you actually have your consultation with Dr. McCarty. I would recommend this office to anyone in the metroplex that is interested in WLS. The resources at my disposal here in Dallas are great. Dr. McCarty is one of the best surgeons in the Dallas area for this type of surgery. He also works with Dr. Joseph Kuhn, and Dr. Westmoreland , all renowned in the area. I have met and spoken to all three men and feel extremely confidant in their abilities. If I didn't I would not be having the surgery here. I just wish it did not take so long to get in to see the Dr. initially, but there is a huge demand on his office, and a waiting list into next year already. The success rate is better than the national average.

Dr. McCarty is wonderful. I'm so very happy with my decision to have surgery with him. He's knowledgeable, efficient, compassionate, and understanding. He does a fantastic job -- I can't believe how great I felt after my surgery and how quickly I recovered. I highly recommend him.

Dr.McCarty seemed very nice.
Typical dr.s visit...short.
I had done a lot of research prior
to meeting him, so I'm not sure if he
didn't go over every detail because I'd
told him that, or just because he wouldn't
have anyway. I did expect there to be a dietician on staff there for guidance, but
I'm not sure it's totally necessary because
I can find one on my own. I am very confident in Dr.McCarty's skills, but I think that his office still has some updating to improve on. (ie.. more organized information for patients, more group care or structured aftercare for post-op, longer and/or more informative patient visits)
I only had one visit with the Dr. and the next time I see him will be the morning of surgery...(I had just expected it there to be much more Dr and or staff involvement prior to my surgery)I hear there are a few post-op visits...but I'll just have to wait until I've had my surgery to judge that.
I'm sure I will need help or advice after surgery...for now I just wait!
Mabye I'm just wanting to be babied a little?
I guess I'll just let my husband to that!!

Met with Dr. McCarty at his seminar in Dallas in January. Was very pleased with him and the information he provided. I have only heard great things about Dr. McCarty and I am looking forward to meeting with him soon.
