THIS IS A CORRECTION!!!!!! My surgeon was Dr. Duncan. I was told at Pre-op that Dr. Johnson was to be my surgeon. Which was WRONG!!!!But not knowing that the hospital was wrong, I was very put off because this is not an easy decision to make and to get all the way to Pre-Op, a couple of weeks before surgery to find out that the doctor you have actually seen is not your doctor can shake you. I think I saw Dr. Johnson at the orientation meeting but that was it, but I had made up in my mind that this was what I wanted so the doctor change was not going to change my decision. I thought about it; Dr. Duncan is very passionate about what he does and about his patient treatment and care. I know Dr. Johnson would not be on his team if he was not one of the best. My surgery went well. I left the hospital the next day and I am doing wonderful. I FOUND OUT TODAY 5/17/05, THAT I DID ACTUALLY HAVE DR. DUNCAN AS MY SURGEON. After going to pre-op I should have gone back to the office and asked questions than to take what the hospital said as the gospel, becuase they were WRONG!
My bit of advice: if you ever have any questions about anything, ASK YOUR DOCTOR!
One word to describe Dr. Duncan is Phenomenal.
adj 1: exceedingly or unbelievably great.
This man has a strong passion to help others improve their quality of life. He is very knowledgable and articulate. When he speaks his words grab your attention and fill your heart with hope. I am honored to be a patient of Peachtree Surgical and Bariatrics. I am still in the approval process but it is my pleasure to work with his office staff, doctors, nurses, assistants, surgeons......you get the picture!
Very knowlegdable about gastric bypass and honest about the possible outcomes. Takes exteme steps to make sure that all patients and their family understand the serious nature of this surgery. I also felt that he looked at my condition as a medical need and not just a fat person who didn't say no to eating. He works with a team of Dr.'s, so if you want a one on one surgeon, this may not be the office for you.
Dr. Duncan is even more AWESOME than I read.I had the pleasure of meeting him on 10/28/04 at a seminar at the ATL Wellness Center. He seems Very knowledgable and even more concerned about people over all. 03/27/05 Well I can't say enough Good about Dr. Duncan, from his knowledge to his passion to ensure that his office is functioning properly to the fact that is continously attempting the quality of excellence. The office staff are Great as well and I see some wonderful changes and growth. Thanks
Dr. Duncan's seminar (mandatory) was very informative. He answered literally EVERY question thrown at him. I heard some good questions and some pretty ignorant ones, but I guess everyone is at a different level of understanding when it comes to this surgery.
Dr. Duncan treated every question as an important and viable subject. He had a pretty good sense of humor and seemed very knowledgable. He definitely didn't make this seem like the greatest thing in the world.
No sugar coating it, he was honest as heck about it.
Overall, I was impressed with him and his staff at the seminar.
Other than the initial seminar last April, I have not met Dr Duncan. He and one of the other Dr/s in the office, Dr. Hobson performed the surgery. Dr. Hobson and Dr. Duncan's PA did the follow up at the hospital after the surgery. Dr. D's PA is my follow up person as well for my follow up appts. I had my presurgery appts with dr. Fields.
I went into this with my eyes wide open. I knew that this office (peachtree surgical and bariatrics) was one of the top rated for this surgery and knew they were very busy. Go in organized, write down questions beforehand, read everything they give you, do your homework, keep copies of everything you submit and do your own followup.
I did not need heavy hand holding-I went there for the competence level and the experience of the practice and have not been disappointed.
