I originally saw Dr. F in 2001 then again in 2005, and now again for my scheduled surgery. rnHe is awesome - very kind and explains all aspects very well. I know several people who have had surgery under him so know his standards are high and his expertise top notch. rnFeel very blessed to be under his care. rn
Dr. Faulkenberry was very nice and very knowledgeable about the procedure. He seems like he really cares about his patience and their well being. I have only been to one appointement with him so far but I don't think my impression will change as I think he is the type that what you see is what you get. And I like everything about him. One of the things I really liked was that he doesn't just do the surgery and see you a couple of times after and then blow you off. He intends on following me for years after my surgery, which is wonderful! rnrnBedside manner is important to me. I want a doctor who is not only very skilled at what he does but also able to make you feel at ease and Dr. Faulkenberry does that. I think my experience with him will be a pleasant one!
I love Dr. F! I know he's not the warmest person in the world, but he gives it to me straight, he has a sense of humor and he honestly seems to care about how I am and what is going on in my life.rnrnGiven the choice to do it again, I would- IF I could have the same Doc, the same hospital, and the same Nurses!!!
I chose Dr. Faulkenberry because of the glorious references I came across on OH and also through the overwhelming recommendation of a couple of his patients I met. I truly believe he wins the popularity contest among the surgeons in his group, but when you meet him you realize he does not act like Mr. Popularity. He is very pleasant, mild mannered, but direct and professional above all. When you are in to see him, he greets you with a smile and a firm hand shake, but immediately gets down to business - I'm sure in part due to his extensive patient roster. That is exactly what I wanted in a surgeon. If I was looking for a weather report, joke of the week or story of the day - I would have visited my local news anchor and not a qualified, experienced bariatric surgeon. From the beginning, he clearly stated my pros and cons of all the various surgeries and advised to choose what I considered the best option for me. You must follow all of his indications, otherwise he will know when you took a misstep and he will call it out to you. In my case, I did not follow my pre-op diet like I was advised and because of this my liver was huge on the day of surgery, almost forcing him to cancel. He acted quickly and made a sixth incision, but made sure I knew the damage that I had almost caused myself and the risks involved if I continued to interfere with his aftercare precautions - which are clear and easy to understand. I did not take this lightly and have followed all instructions to the T from that point on. His staff is friendly, and willing to answer any question over the phone or in person. Overall and so far in my journey, I have found Dr. Faulkenberry to be a stellar, experienced and professional surgeon, as well as a kind gentleman. Both his surgical competence and bedside manner are great.

Dr Faulkenberry is a great Dr. My first impression was that he is extremely detailed and thorough. He has good bedside manor and has a good program in his office that he follows with nutrition, exercise, pre and post op foods. I would rate him a 10. If I have anything negative to say it would be the people filing paperwork for him, seem to be a little disorganized. Be sure to keep copies of everything yourself you may need them.
