After reading all the posts about surgeons who are just in it for the money, I can assure you, Dr. Faulkenberry is not one of those surgeons. He has a great bedside manner and for my 8 week post-op visit it genuinely seemed he cares about my progress. He never rushes me out of an appt and lets me ask all the questions I have. He's been a great surgeon to me (RNY) and my husband (VSG). I would recommend Dr. Faulkenberry to anyone looking to have WLS who wants a knowledgable, thorough, and supportive surgeon who will be there for you pre-op as well as post-op. I really feel I made the best choice in choosing Dr. Faulkenberry.

Hospital/Surgical Review- I feel that Dr. Faulkenberry's staff completely prepared me for this surgery. I was given all the information necessary to follow both pre-op and post op diets. The day before surgery I was given an MRSA test, which was positive. The day of surgery every precaution was taken to protect me from infection, nausea, etc. After surgery I was held in ICU overnight for precaution because of my high risk status (high BMI, sleep apnea, hypertension). I wholly felt well taken care of by Dr. Faulkenberry. I did not expect to see him more than once a day while in the hospital, but I saw him several times, as well as his partner and the hospitalist. I also had an assigned person to keep track of me throughout the hospital visit and for 3 weeks afterwards. My surgeon made sure that I had everything I needed in the hospital. Dr. Faulkenberry does not do surgery to do surgery--he truly believes in his patients and is in it for the long haul. His care does not end once you leave the hospital. Highly recommend.

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Faulkenberry and the staff at Southwest Bariatric. Each patient is assigned a Patient Advocate who helps navigate the medical maze and keeps you on track. Every step is outlined clearly. They are all as nice as you could wish for. Since I have to travel several hours to get to Austin, they've really accomodated me with that.
Dr. Faulkenberry's office is in a busy area of Austin. It was a little difficult to find and parking wasn't ideal, but with a drop off area at the front doors, we did okay. The exam tables in the office are bariatric friendly and ADA accessible.
I will update this after my next visit to the office.

Dr. Faulkenberry and his staff were excellent and this experience was an A+. The surgery went smoothly although there was a minor infection but it was quickly resolved. Dr. Faulkenberry's bedside manner was professional and efficient. He was straightforward and was very direct with what I needed to know. He had a nutritionist on staff which was of great benefit for quick questions that always seemed to come up at the oddest times and helped keep me on course through my weight loss. One thing would concern me is that Dr. Faulkenberry did seem to be overbooked and very in demand as many appointments had to be rescheduled or bumped back slightly.

Dr. Tim Faulkenberry is a most professional, knowledgable physician. He showed great bedside manner, asked appropriate questions, gave detailed explanations to my questions, and never rushed me through my appointment. His office staff has always been helpful, most friendly and always show a smile and willingness to help.
I checked his criteria and references, his mortality rate and etc. He is highly recommended and everyone that learns that he is my physician, is very complimentary of him and states that I have one of the best surgeons.
I received both written and verbal information about pre-op expectations, post-off expectations, my obligations, risks of surgery, pre-op.post-op eatting requirements, information about supplements and a few other items which will be helpful to me on my journey.
And I can't say enough nice things about Cassie, the billing specialists. She is calm, collected, professional, no situation too horrendous, very informative, knowledgeable, very courteous, well-informed, accurate in her paperwork, etc.. I could not have found a better billing person.
I would highly recommend Dr. Faulkenberry, and any of his partners.

I had my first appointment with Dr. Faulkenberry yesterday, May 20th, 2008. He was running about 30-40 minutes behind, so I did sit in the waiting room for a while, but with as highly recommended as he comes, I can understand how he could run that late! My first impression of Dr. Faulkenberry was that he had a great bedside manner, and he was also very informative. Although the appointment was not as extensive as I thought it would be (as far as getting a surgery date and whatnot), I was really pleased with my experience with Dr. Faulkenberry.
I liked Dr Faulkenberry the first time I had a consolt with him and I still like him now. His Staff was very helpful and personal they follow there patiens for at least 5 years. they addresse all the risks, answer all questions you may have. I would rate him and his Staff at least an 9 (10 the best).rnI also believe that surgical competence is top priorety but good bedside manners are also very important.rnso far my experience has been top notch but I have a long way to go so if anything happens that I dont think or feel is right I will be back here and pass it on
