Eric Acheson Bariatric Surgeon MD, FACS

A Texan by birth, Dr. Acheson loves the lifestyle afforded by living in the Austin area. He is a former collegiate quarterback and continues to be an avid sports enthusiast. In addition to basketball and football, he enjoys participating in any outdoor sporting activity such as running, hiking, and camping. Free time is devoted to activities with family.

Surgical Specialties
As a board certified surgeon, Dr. Acheson enjoys the full spectrum of general surgery. He provides surgical care for benign and malignant diseases of the breast, thyroid, abdomen and gastrointestinal tract. He employs general and advanced laparoscopic techniques for reflux disease, hernias, and comprehensive abdominal problems. Dr. Acheson also provides surgical treatment of morbid obesity with gastric banding, sleeve gastrectomy, and gastric bypass. 

Education and Professional Associations
Dr. Acheson received his medical degree from Louisiana State University Medical School in New Orleans. Dr. Acheson’s surgical training was obtained at Brooke Army Medical Center in Fort Sam Houston, TX, where he also completed a Trauma Research Fellowship. During his 11 years of active military service in the United States Army, he spent three deployments as a trauma and general surgeon in multiple regions of Afghanistan and Iraq. He is a member of the Texas Medical Association.
