Dr. Khalili is phenomenal. He is extremely caring and concerned. He spends plenty of time with you pre-op & post-op. His bedside manner is superb, gentle, understanding & informative. The nursing care at Cedars Sinai Medical Center was excellent. I had no complications and came back home after 3 nights in the hospital. He is quite insistent about the after care program with a nutritionist/support group. He addressed all possible risks both verbally & in writing. I would give him the highest possible rating in all areas.
He was chosen for me by my HMO Med Grp. I knew Cedar Sinai has an EXCELLENT reputation, so I was thrilled. He was straight forward, sincere. I think that most of us who get to the point of actually speaking w/a surgeon have already done a TON of homework, so I didn't have many questions for him. He asked me WHY I wanted this surgery. He didn't ask for a Phych.Eval..he said I had my head on straight and had realistic expectations. The office is busy!! I had to tell the office people the same details each time I called as if we'd never spoken. I have been asked 3 times in the last 3 phone calls if I've had my pre-op tests done......
Very nice. I have only met with him once.
I have talked to different staff members and they have all been very helpful.
I have had to wait a long time to schedule appointments and surgery because of Cedar Sinai's popularity.
Cedars has a structured aftercare program, but I live too far away to attend weekly meetings.
Information packet before our first appointment.
Great so far.
Still to see.
I went to Cedars Sanai for my
surgery. The doctor was very good.
The clinic is also very good.
The help is 90% percent wonderful
and nobody is perfect so
I give them the green light at the
clinic. :)
I am only one week out of surgery so
I'll tell you more about aftercare
later.
I did see the doctor this week though.
Access was not difficult.
About structured aftercare, they
offer a dietician but I am looking
for a group or dietecian closer to
home.
This surgery was a lap surgery.
The medical and surgicalcare was
outstanding. To me, this is more
important than supportive care.
Anyone can find a therapist!
I met with Dr. Khalili on my consult. He answered all my questions and took time to explain the pro's and con's or lap-band vs. lap-rny. He emphasized post-op care that the office requires and for a consult, I think he spent a lot of time with me. The staff is great too although Elaine, the head nurse seemed a littled gruff but I only met here the once so I am withholding my impression of her until I interact with her more. (Note added June 19, 2002: Elaine is great, she sounds gruff but is really nice under that hard shell). Thanks Elaine for all your help and encouragement.
My surgery date is June 3rd and I have my big pre-surgery visit on May 30th and I will meet with the entire surgery team and get all my info for the surgery. I will let you all know how it goes......
June 3rd came and went. I am now two weeks out and 36 lbs lighter. I am complication free so far and my surgery/recovery have gone very smoothly. THANK YOU DR. KHALILI!!! You are fantastic!!
