My first impression of him was he is very kind and honest.
Since I have become better aquainted with him I believe the first impression is still true and he is also willing to take whatever time you need to be helped.
There is nothing that I dislike about him
That he is know for a very good job that he does for his patients and he is very kind and considerate.
He very much stresses the after care aspect because he intends to do the best job he can for you but you need to know what your part in the event belongs to you.
Connie in his office helped me hook up with emails of previous patients to offer support and one on them turned me on to this awesome website.
He takes the time to make sure you understand the risk of your surgery by giving you a test and then going over your answers with you.
I would rate him as a 10 so far.
Both surgical competence and bedside manner are important and I know he has a caring bedside manner and he is well known for his competence

When I first met Dr. Scarborough he was very friendly and laid back. He didn't come in and immediately start lecturing me about being overweight. He asked some general questions and then asked why I wanted the surgery- (as if it wasn't obvious). He then went over the surgery, drew diagrams and explained all the risks & told me what to expect before and after surgery. He talked to me for about an hour which really impressed me because there's nothing I hate worse than a doctor who gives you about 10 minutes and that's it. He is very knowledgable and shows a genuine interest in your wellbeing. His bedside manner is awesome. Would highly recommend him to anyone considering this surgery. Mecole in his office has also been very helpful in answering the insurance questions.

I am very fortunate to have Dr. Scarborough. He is a very skilled and accomplished surgeon. His bedside manner is one that all surgeons should model. His Nurse Practitioner Connie is also excellent and is a great resource. They as team make very sure that you understand the dynamics of surgery and life thereafter which by far is the most important aspect to understand. Overall i would recommend him exclusively.

****Update: I had my surgery on 11/16/2005 and my impression of Dr. Scarborough was correct. He is an awesome surgeon. I woke up and had no pain from my incisions, only form the air they blow you up with during laproscopy procedures. My incisions healed quickly, some you 3 you can't really see anymore and its only been 3 weeks! My mother liked him also and said from the time she met him until my surgery she felt reassured that he was competent and would take care of me and my mom is VERY critical , especially when it comes to someone dealing with her kids! I know this all sounds good and everyone says no one is perfect, but Dr. Scarborough's bedside manner to his surgical skills, I really don't think there is much room for improvement. I still give him a 10.

8/30/2005 My first impression of him was that he's probably one of those shy guys that really darn good at what he does. So far my impression has remained unchanged except at the WLS seminar I got to see his sense of humor and he seems to be a funny guy. He drew diagrams on my chart to make sure I understood the types of WLS and what the risks are, how many deaths he's had and what his opinion of me and my risks were. So far I'd give him a 10. I'll update if and once I get surgery. I find surgical copetence to be most important--- a doctor could be a jerk as long as he got me there and back, but Dr. Scarborough seems to be both a good mix of surgical competence and he has a decent bedside manner too. His office staff has been so prompt with getting me appointments and they're all been so kind and patient when I call almost every other day, Connie and LaShawn were wonderful!

I first communicated with Dr Scarborough through email and his immediate response help me realize that he is a good doctor. When I met him in person he seem like a caring doctor who answer any questions you have and make you feel at eaze. I am still waiting on the test results and I look forward to scheduling my date.

Dr. Scarborough was a very caring doctor that listened and was very thorough in explaining each step of the procedure. His staff is exceptional, you may call night or day and they respond within minutes.

I would recommend Dr. Scarborough to anyone because of his professionalism, his caring, and his staff. I would rate the total experience 98%.

I go today for my aftercare program and can not comment on that experience.

While in the hospital the only bad experience I had was the hospital not being able to find veins for procedure.

This statment is my personal impressions of my own personal experience and that I am making no statements about what other people may experience.

I like Dr. Scarborough. He explained everything very clearly and although quiet, he is very friendly. His staff is great and have been very helpful and supportive, especially Connie. I wish everyone could have as good as experience as I have. I rate Dr. Scarborough and his staff as a 10 out of 10.

6/20/05 I am now 5 weeks post-op. Dr. Scarborough continues to be wonderful. He was excited for me on my weight loss on my first postop visit. He has an outstanding pos-op support group that meets monthly. I can't say enough good about him. I think he is fabulous!
5/9/05 I am sooo disappointed. I went to the hospital as scheduled today for my surgery, eager to get on with everything, only to end up with an "undress rehearsal". I got undressed and into the bed for surgery. The nurses were about to start the IV and heparin when Connie (Dr. Scarborough's nurse)came in and stopped everything. It seems the Dr. took his wife out for Mother's Day yesterday and they both have food poisoning. I feel so bad for them, but am also so disappointed for myself. I have been rescheduled for next Monday, May 16. 5/4/05 I am scheduled for surgery on May 9. It has been a long process in getting here. First off, my FORMER insurance refused to cover anything. Unfortunately, I didn't get any encouragement from Dr. Marvin's staff when I approached them with the problem. In the meantime, I have gone through a lot of very difficult situations with my family. I changed to Dr. Terry Scarborough since I know several people at work who have used him for their surgeries and they all swear by him and have had fantasic experiences with him and his staff.I have changed insurance companies to United Healthcare and and with the help of Connie at the doctor's office, my surgery was approved in less than 2 weeks. I have had all my tests and pre-op work done and am all ready to go on Monday! I have been attending all of Dr. Scarborough's support meetings that I could while waiting for my datewith him. I really feel I am ready now and am eager to get on with my life and the new and improved, healthier me.

12/3/03 I first met with Debra when I got to the office. She is so kind and understanding and supportive. I felt perfectly at ease with her from the first moment. She took all my history and info for the insurance company. Then I met with Dr. Marvin. I am very impressed with him. He answered most of my questions before I even got to ask them... took lots of time to go over the entire procedure from start to finish and tell me what all I can expect. He was not at all rushed with me. I felt he was concerned about me and my health, this is not just a JOB for him.(I refuse to use a Dr. who treats me like I am just another number.) Everyone in the office was very helpful and friendly. I had to call back to talk to Debra after I left. She was with another patient at the time, but called me back in less than 10 min. That's sure a nice switch from getting called back after 6pm like my own doctor's office does. I am impressed with their professionalism and promtness.

These are MY personal impressions of my experience and may not be what other people experience.

I found Dr. Scarborough to be very informative. He notified me about all the risks of this procedure, and was very honest about fatalities he's dealt with resulting from surgery. His staff was also very patient after I bombarded them with questions and concerns. Overall, I am very pleased with him and his office. The only thing negative that I have to say is about one of his nurses. I was assigned nurse Monique who was initially helpful and kind (as were the rest of the staff). However, Monique changed her entire attitude and subsequently refused to even speak with me by phone after she was informed that my insurance complany wouldn't cover the procedure. I would recommend to anyone to speak with nurse Connie. When Monique claimed appealing would be pointless, Connie filed the appeal paperwork anyway. What harm could an appeal do, anyway?

Hard working surgeon with impecable credentials! Excellent office staff. Personally explained procedure and risks numerous times. Extremely candid about possible complications and current complication rate. Kind, quiet, patient and laid back. NOT pushy. I would say his surgical competence and his bedside manner are equally great!
