Friendly professional office staff. Spacious, nicely furnished state of the art new office. rnDr. Scarborough is a caring well trained medical professional. Dr. Scarborough was present and available for questions before and after surgery. He visited with me and my family during my surgery prep time and followed up with them immediately following it. I also saw him two times while hospitalized in addition to many other hospital staff members.
I immediately liked Dr. Scarborough and felt comfortable with him. He and his staff have been extremely helpful and kind throughout the entire process. I would definitely recommend him to anyone interested in bariatric surgery. He was very thorough in his information provided, and never made me feel as if I was asking a \"dumb question\". He was great during office visits, at the hospital, and the surgery went without a single complication!
I had Dr. Dean McDaniel as my surgeon originally. He was not in my network and charged an additional $3000 for his services. The more I thought about it, the more it irritated me. Hey, I can put that money to work somewhere else! Hey, my daughter will enter college next yearrnrnSo, I sought another surgeon and decided on Dr. Terry Scarborough.I liked his office staff very much. They were fun, happy people who were still very professional. rnrnDr. Scarborough seemed quiet, but kind. He was personable and very knowledgeable. rnrnJuly 24, 2008rnrnI have an appt with Dr. Terry Scarborough on Aug. 11. They thought they could schedule my surgery w/in 2-3 weeks since I'm already approved.rnrnI am also trying to get in with Dr. Garth Davis, b/c the Methodist program is so good. rnrn
I had my surgery with Dr.Terry Scarborough, and he is a jem. If I had to rate him, I would give him a 10!rnrn***UPDATE***8/11/08rnI spoke with the surgeon in person and paid a visit to his new temporary office. I understand why they are having such difficulties. The space is woefully inadequate, but the good news is that he has a beautiful office under construction across the hallway from his temporary office. I guess I'm seeing the worst of this process. Their phones and fax machine are working. And I am getting calls back in a timely manner. My experience below was hopefully isolated. Don't let this discourage anyone from using this doctor. I like him very much.rn**October 2007**rnMy first impression was that he was genuinely interested in what you had to say. I don't think that has changed, but I haven't had any contact with him for almost one year. My big challenge has been in getting information that is clear and timely from the office.rn**April 2008** rnThe girls that work for him are very sweet, and his assistant tries very hard to please. I think that if it wasn't for her, I would be at a loss. But a lot goes on at his office, that makes it hard to keep up, or even worse , to avoid getting \"lost in the shuffle\"-rn He recently changed venues, and has moved into his own office. This has made things even more frustrating in many ways (office phones not working, not knowing if they remember me, no scheduled surgery, not having my paperwork or faxes, miscommunication), but I am hoping this will get better with time. I understand that setting up a new office is a very big task, but I just wish that someone had been in charge of making the patients feel comfortable, and valued during this big change.rn**June 2008** rnI feel that being a bariatric patient I have a lot on my mind, and major hopes for my future, all resting on this person...a lot is depending on this surgeon and his staff. I think not knowing what is going on has caused me so much stress I started over-eating again. rnHis NEW (Carol was great) dietician called me and started grilling me over the phone. She had no idea that I had done 4 months of weight management, TWICE already. She was treating me like somebody who was just starting. I was really patient with her for the first 10 minutes, but then I had to interrupt and ask her what the heck all of the questions were about! She made a remark about my \"chart\" and how the only thing she saw was that I needed, was to talk to the nutritionist.... needless to say, I wasn't happy with that answer. When I explained all that I had done to-date, she say \"oh\" and said they would call me back in a few minutes, which they never did (I wish I could say this was an isolated incident).rnDon't get me wrong... I think the surgeon is a GEM. I even had a good friend use him several years ago, and she had nothing but great things to say. I really want to have a chat with him about the office management. It is lacking something... like ORGANIZATION.rnI still haven't heard back if my insurance gave the \"thumbs up\" or not.rnSo frustrated! I don't want to lose my focus or my drive. I need to do this and soon. I'll keep you posted. :(rn
There office staff was wonderful and very helpful in every way...I am very pleased with the new office location in Park Plaza, because it was days when you waited to see the doctor or nurse for weight management when he was located in the old office, for 2 hrs or more past your scheduled time...but now since Dr. Scarborough has changed locations...the services are much faster!!rnrnFuture patients should know that Dr. Scarborough has a wonderful personality and he is also very comforting. Even though he is new to the Bariatric world, according to his profile, he is very confident in assuring the patients that wonderful results comes with a dose of hard work and dedication! So, thanks to Dr. Terry Scarborough for making my life even healthier, I am proud to say that I, too am a patient of \"Dr. Terry Scarborough\"!rnrnI would rate Dr. Scarborough, on a scale from 1-10, with 10 being the highest and 1 being the lowest...I would say that he has earned a \"10 out of 10\"!!!!rnrn
I like Dr. Scarborough. He was very thorough and we both agreed RNY was for me. He drew a diagram to show me the surgery. So far I have only met him at initial appointment and at pre-op, other than that I have met with his nurse, Connie Klein, who is great. At pre-op, they have you take a pretest to understand your knowledge of the test! I wasn't expecting that but I did very well.
Dr Scarborough is awesome. He is calm, quiet and you can tell he enjoys what he is doing. He is a perfectionist in my opinion and wants to make sure that everything is covered. This was a big plus for me. I don't want someone to just do the surgery and be done with it all. He truly cares! An overall rating to Dr Scarborough is 10+.
I have met with Dr. Scarborough once & I really liked him & got a good vibe from him at that appointment. His office staff has not been quite as nice & helpful. I have encountered a few people that were less than friendly & it too some determination on my part to get through to Connie to schedule surgery but I finally was able to. They are not good at all about calling you back-so be forewarned & be persistant. rnrn06/05/07rnI had my 6 month checkup with Dr. Scarborough & I do like him, but he is really almost TOO quiet. He doesnt ask much or say much unless you ask him a question. I felt totally comfortable with him & he did a fantastic job but I cant figure him out-I thought he might be shy but now I think he just doenst have much personality. Not that I woudlnt recommend him-I totally would-just dont expect any warm, fuzzy feelings from him! lol!
