My first impression of him was that he seemed to \"really\" care about fat people. That's right.... \"Fat people\"...I include myself in that category. I came to him with alot of baggage anyway. I'm in the \"Super morbid obese\" catagorie with a BMI of 57.5, 60 years old and I have Congestive Heart Failure. He is starting a branch of \"Fresh Start\" bariatric surgery here in the Columbus Ohio area at Riverside Methodist Hospital that started in Mansfield Ohio. I was going to \"Barix\" at first but they left me out there to fend for myself, which is fine. I have broad shoulders anyway and I can take care of myself. After my wife and I attended \"Fresh Start\" seminar one evening we decided to go with \"Fresh Start\" instead of Barix. They had me come in for an all day evaluation which consisted of a Medical Evaluation, Psychological Consulation and a Nutritional Consulation and a Blood draw. You can't beat that! (they also give you lunch)....get almost everything done in one day, oh sure he had me go for things I had to have done anyway like a Chemical Stress Test, EKG, Chest X-Ray and a Echocaridogram. I already have a CPAP machine and I had to send them a copy of my sleep test and breathing test. The people he has working with him were very helpful like Annie, Mike, Suzie, Yavonne, Cheri and I'm sure there are others that I left out. I just hope they aren't mad at me for forgetting their names. I told them up front that my memory was about as long as my ...... but we won't go there. All I can say is that it seems that they have a great program. I'll let you know more after when and if I get an ok from \"Aetna\". That will be a whole other story. If anyone has any questions or has any input to what I said feel free to e-mail me at [email protected].
Dr. Myers is the Bariatrics Medical Director for the Bariatrics program at Riverside Methodist Hospital located in Columbus, Ohio.rnrnI began my journey with the Ohio State University Baratric program but because of an insurance issue was introduced to Dr. Myers. who heads up a new Bariatric program at Riverside.rnrnDr. Myers is respectful, understanding and down to earth. The FreshStart program is comprehensive and well structured. Future patients should know that the combination of Dr. Myers, the FreshStart program and Riverside Methodist Hospital is a winner.rnrnThe aftercare program looks fantastic. Here is a link to the facility where the aftercare progam takes place http://www.ohiohealth.com/homemcconnell.cfm?id=375rnrn
My first impression of him was that he truly wanted to help people who are obese. My impression of him after several months has not changed. The office staff at FreshStart are very nice and helpful. He was very thorough with me about aftercare and he really sat and talked over the procedure and aftercare. They have a structured plan for caring for me before, during, and after the surgery. He did talk to me about the risks of this surgery. I feel very secure with him, he is very friendly doctor, but he is also very serious about what he is doing to help others. To me surgical competence is better. The only thing negative was trying to get all my appointments with other doctors all set up and get everything I needed to have done in a timely manner. It has been a long process.
