From the start I could tell he was someone who really cared about his patients. He made a point to introduce himself to everyone in the room before the seminar started. He walked around and offered us water bottles. During my appointment with him I felt that he was very thorough and interested in the specifics of my health situation.rnrnThe before and aftercare programs seem very comprehensive. I don't think I've heard of any others that are this well rounded.rnrnWe talked about the risks and he wanted to work with my rheumatologist to address issues related to my RA and how the WLS would impact things.rnrnOverall, I'm going into this rating him as a 10!rn................................................rnPost Op 5 days - he still gets a 10!rn...............................................rn3 months post op - still happy with him! And so is my PCP. Today she said he is the ONLY bariatric surgeon in her experience who sends follow up letters to keep the PCP informed. She was very impressed with my success and the program. She's been referring people to Fresh Start and Dr. Myers!rn
So far my experience with Fresh Start has been very positive. I met Dr. Myers at a seminar I attended in November. He made sure to answer any initial questions anyone had and stayed after to answer more personal questions. His staff has been responsive and easy to deal with. We had a mix up in the scheduling of my all day appointment which included psych eval, lab work, nutrition and fitness counseling and a comprehenisive appointment with an Internal Medicine Dr.. I had written down one day and they had another day. When I showed up, Annie made sure I was included with the rest of the group that day and the staff went out of their way to make sure I was seen by everyone. They recognized how hard it is to get away from work for a whole day, so they fit me in and made it work.rnrnThe program is very comprehensive and I was very impressed that they require you to go through a 3 month nutrition program before they will schedule you for surgery. Some insurance companies do not require a doctor supervised diet before approving, so technically you could go in, get approved and have surgery soon after. Fresh Start makes sure you are ready and they make sure you make the necessary changes in your diet before you have surgery, to make it easier to afterwards. rn
I honestly can't say enough good things about Dr. Myers and the Fresh Start Bariatrics staff. Dr. Myers is there to make sure you have long term success. I had been to other seminars, and Dr. Myers was not only there (at the others, the surgeons were not at the seminars), but he led the entire seminar explaining everything more thouroughly than anyone ever had. He has a personal interest in this because he has watched his parents suffer with obesity. I was very impressed!rnrnTheir program prepares you so well for surgery and post op. He is kind, and truly cares about your success. rnrnDr.Myers and Mike, his assistant, saw me before surgery, and twice after surgery that day, and each day in the hospital. Then, you are given Dr. Myers cell phone number in case you have any problems when you leave the hospital, you will be able to reach him directly. rnrnI was so comfortable knowing Dr. Myers was perfoming my surgery. rnrnI would highly recommend Dr. Myers and Fresh Start Bariatrics to anyone considering surgery. They are all wonderful.rnrnDr. Myers was even at the support group meeting! Thank you Dr. Myers!
DR MYERS IS A GREAT LISTENER! AFTER THE SEMINIAR I SPOKE WITH HIM ABOUT MY CONCERN OF PCOS. I LIKE HIM BECAUSE HE HAD DEALT WITH PCOS PATIENTS. I WAS UNSURE ABOUT WHICH SURGERY TO HAVE AND HE KINDLY SAID YOU THINK ABOUT AND I'LL DO MORE RESEARCH TO DECIDE WHICH OPTION WOULD BE BETTER FOR \"YOU\"! THE TEAM IS GREAT AND I NEVER HAVE A PROBLEM GETTING A CALL BACK.
He is a very kind and gentle soul who really seems to care about his pt success for the long term. I have only been more and more impressed with Dr. Myers and his staff each time I meet with them. His office staff work as a team, I never heard anyone gossip about another team member, they are always soft spoken and kind. It seems like a nice group of people to work with. The reason that I went with Dr. Myers after interviewing two other surgeons in my area is that Dr. Myers answered my question about long term care after the surgery. My fear is \"WHAT IF IT DOESN\"T work as well as I had hoped, what if I fail with such a radaical procedure and still can't lose and keep off the weight after cutting off half of my stomach for goodness sake. Dr. Myers said that he asked all of his pt to set a weight, be it 5 to 10 lbs above their goal weight that would make them feel like they were failing if they went back up above the number. Then Dr. Myers said, the moment you get above the number I want you to call my office and make an appointment to come to see me! That was the answer that I was looking for, a surgeon who wants to take the time to ensure you suceed. I reasearch his staff also, they have one of the number 1 ranking in percentage lost as a whole group of pt with their after surgery care program that requires you go see a trainer, work out, stay up with your appointments with the dietitiion. I haven't had my surgery yet, hopefully in August 2007. I will right more about my hospital experience then. I love Dr. Myers and his staff, espically Anne, she even said a little prayer with me when I was in her office, it felt wonderful to be in her company.
