Had my appointment today at 3:00 at Dr.Stahls office..The nurse was very nice..I didn't have to wait long..They weighed me..(ugh)326 lbs..yuk!!Then she measured my height..I have shrunk an inch..Then I went in to talk to Dr.Stahl..He was younger than I thought..But he was very nice..He answered
all my questions..All though I had done so much research I already knew the answers..But I wanted to hear it from him..But all in all I liked him and I trust him..He was very streight forward and very truthful..He told me about the down side and the upside of the surgery..To me the good out weighes the bad..We'll that is all for right now!it is just a waiting period now..for insurance... updated later with mor info!!
I have not met Dr. Sherer yet, but have heard good reports about him here. My boys pediatrician is also Dr. Sherer's kids pediatrician, he said Dr. Sherer was a real gentleman. I have my appt on June 13. I can't wait. I would do it tomorrow if I could! I have decided to change my appt to Dr. Stahl. After doing some further research, some things left me feeling uncomfortable. He did not come highly recommended, Dr. Stahl did. The only thing is my appt has been bumped back to August 13, I am on a cancellation list. I do not want to wait that long.
May 16!
My appt with Dr. Stahl got moved to June 7! It always helps to know people. I am so excited and I can't wait.

Had my appt today. Dr. Stahl was very nice. He explained a lot, but I knew a lot of it anyway from research and talking to people. His office is starting the approval process. I hope to be having surgery in about a month or so.
The office staff was very nice also. I went in there expecting a long wait, but I was called back in less than 15 minutes.
I really liked Dr. Stahl. He's the kind of doctor that gives you the sense that he's not just in it for the money. He lays out things good and bad, answers your questions. His office staff the day I was there, wasn't entirely friendly, upbeat, or anything that made an impression on me. Everyone just kinda looked at me, did their thing, went on their way. I was the only one in the waiting room. No one asked me any additional questions or went over my package information with me. I was told that they would send off my request to my insurance and to start calling after about a week.
My biggest complaint so far would be that it took 3 months to get in to see Dr. Stahl and nothing was done to further any insurance info or anything. Now, I'm faced with a checklist of things that I have to go back and do, the psychiatric eval, my primary doctor approval. So two more appointments that I've had to schedule and wait for, then to get these papers to Dr. Stahl's office for my insurance. I'm feeling lost in the shuffle right now and that I'm having to do all the work to get my surgery approved.
But all in all, I trust Dr. Stahl to do my surgery. I have a friend that has had open RNY and she liked Dr. Stahl also. As long as you trust your surgeon to give you all the info and to do the best job they can, then you'll be alright.
I liked Dr. Stahl right away. He was very matter-of-fact yet friendly. He told me what the risks were, answered any questions I had, and explained the surgery in detail. He also informed me that I was a candidate for the lap which I was very glad to hear.
4/9/02 - Hello Everyone! Well, I went for my 2 week post-op appt with Dr. STahl on April 4th, and I have lost 25 pounds so far. I was shocked, I expected to have lost maybe ten pounds. Although I have no regrets about the surgery, I have realized that I have some bad habits that I have to change, its s daily struggle but so worth it.
my first impression of dr. stahl was very good . he was very honest with me about the risk involved in the surgery. he went over every detail of the surgery with me.
susie was very very sweet and helpful and did all the paper work for medicaid.
future patients should know that dr. stahl is very straight forward about the risk and over all seems very concerned with his patients.
Dr. Stahl was was very straight forward with me and my boyfriend. I thought he was very kind and compassionate. The more we talked the more I was impressed with him. His office staff was kind and friendly. Very helpful and prompt about returning calls. So far I rate Dr. Stahl a 10! However I will update my opinion of him after I have my surgery to in order to be more informative on his surical skill and bedside manner and not least his aftercare practices. Dr. Stahl was great. He was very caring and explained everything he did to me during my surgery to my family. My family was also impressed by him. He's still a 10!
I was very impressed with Dr. Stahl and his staff, they were very freindly and helpful. After care was of great importance to him and he covered all the bases with me and my husband about everything we wanted to know. I was not too worried about his bedside manner all though I have no complaints about it, I am more interested in his skills as a surgeon. I checked out every avenue I knew to check and he was my first choice.
My first impression of Dr. Stahl was that he was very young. As we spoke about the surgery I felt very good about my decision in choosing him. I could have gone to a local Doctor that could have done the procedure in December but I wanted some one whom had a great reputation. Dr. Stahl’s office staff was very pleasant and helpful. The nurse seemed to be legitimately excited for my decision and me. What I least liked about him was that he could do the surgery sooner. But that is because the insurance has to approve so I am happy with Dr. Stahl. He went into detail about pre-op, the operation, and post-op care. He did not mention support groups, but I live two hours away from the clinic and I also have found great support groups online. I do believe surgical competence is much more important than bedside manner. I am 37 years old and do not need someone to be extremely nice to me if he has the skills to get the job done. With Dr. Stahl, he contained both were great. While explaining the procedure to me he relied on his skill and did not try for bedside manner. But after explaining the operation he was as nice as any person could ask for during this decision making time. After seeing Dr. Stahl I am more excited now than I was prior to my visit. This was a very good experience.
