My journey Started in March of 2012. I weighed over 360 lbs had a stroke at 55. I had high blood pressure taking three medications just to keep me in line. A thyroid and borderline Cholestroil problem. I had discussed the idea of have some type of Bariatric surgery with my family physician but this time he told me that I have to do something. I am hitting a plateau that cannot be improved by the pharmacutical industry.
He had given me the name of a physician but after the initial contact I discovered that he would not accept my insurance and I was not going to pay for the complete surgery. I discovered Dr. Sadek throuhg an internet search and noticed that he was having an introductory seminar in mid April.
I brought my wife to the seminar. I had already made an appointment to meet with him but I wanted her to be assured that there should be no complications because of my health backround.
Dr. Sadek answered all her questions.
This was the second start of the journey upon my first visit I received the list of doctors for prequalification for surgery scheduled for August. Well needless to say I never had the surgery in August. Rescheduled it for September missed that date. Finally had the surgery on October 31st just after Sandy.
One of the prerequisites is to loose as much weight as one can before the surgery. It reduces the stress on your system and makes Dr. Sadek's job a little easier. Well because of the delay I lost 40 lbs prior to the surgery. I thought why am I going to go through with it but Dr. Sadek reminded me that the problem that led me to his office was the cycle of loss and weight gain.
Since the surgery I had my second post op review with Dr. Sadek so after surgery I have lost another 53 lbs. That is a total of 93 lbs and still looking to my goal of loosing 1/3 of me when I started this journey. That is a total loss of 120 lbs.
Now there is one side of this journey that I need to discuss. For 50+ years I lived to eat. As a personal chef that made my invironment in line with my thought process on Food. Now I eat to live I am still a personal chef but my attitiude to food has changed. The sleave has eliminated my obcession to indulge. In our discussions he mentioned that my body will tell you when to stop and it sure does.
I have to say that Dr. Sadek is one of the best if not thee best in the Bariatric realm. Some Doctors will perform the sugery and leave you on your own. This happened to a freind. He is there not only as your medical doctor but as a freind to assist you in generating a new you.
OMG...wher do I begin? Dr. Sadek is a wonderful and OUTSTANDING doctor. His patience and bedside manner with his patients is unbelievable. I actually knew Dr. Sadek 9 years ago when I had my Lap Band done in Staten Island. He was training under my doctor their. Needless to say I had problems with my band twice and now living in NJ I needed to find a doctor here. My girlfriend and back doctor recommended me to see Dr. Sadek. Not realizing this was the same doctor I knew 9 years ago. I was so thrilled knowing this was the same doctor from many years ago. I had problems with the new band so Dr. Sadek offered to remove my band and then wait until I healed and then have "the Gastric Sleeve". To make a long story short, I had the Gastric Sleeve done on January 4, 2013 and it is 4 months later. I have lost 40 pounds and I feel great. Dealing with Dr. Sadek has been nothing but a positive experience. He treats me like family and talks to you like you are family. He is very compassionate and caring doctor. Which is one thing you don't find these days in the medical field. If I need anything I know he is there for me. This has been a wonderful experience, one that I know if any other person decides tohave any type of bariatric surgery I would hope you would choose Dr. Sadek. I promise you will be very happy. I know I am. I thank him all the time for changing my life.

I started this entire process in September 2012, within a month a had a surgery date for November. For my own personal reasons I had to postpone and the office staff worked with me and squeezed me in for January. They worked with my insurance for approval and everything went smooth. Surgery was a success. I am now 4 months out and have lost approximately 60 pounds.
On February 8, 2012 Dr. Sadek performed the Gastric Sleeve from that day since I have never looked back. This was a life changing decision one that I didn't take lightly when making it. After having tried numerous diets since my late teens, achieving goal and then failing I knew I came to a point when there was nothing else I could do. I went to Dr. Sadek on a recommendation and was excited to learn that there was a procedure I could have that was a tool in the weight loss battle. I was border diabetic and my blood pressure was increasing. I had difficulty walking any distance and no clothes that would fit. After having the surgery and have achieved a loss of over 62lbs, I have never felt better. This was the best decision about my health that I have ever made in my life and my thanks to Dr. Sadek for helping me get there. He is a wonderful Surgeon and easy to speak with.
Dr. Sadek is an excellent bariatric surgeon. I had VSG March 1st and I am so happy I made the decision to take this journey in my life. Dr. Sadek and the staff are kind professional and supportive. I highly recommend Dr. Sadek. His Team did a wonderful job.
If you are trying to make a decision I would tell you to come to the support group which is held the third Tuesday of the month. The people in the group are very willing to share their experience and I have made many great new friends.
I have just started my journey it is just 6 weeks since the surgery and 7 since pre op liquid diet. I have lost a total of 30 lbs and I feel great...
Dr. Sadek is very knowledgeable, compassionate and truly concerned about helping me to lose weight and get healthy. He answered all questions and I felt very comfortable with him. The office staff has been very helpful and friendly. I had a gastric bypass on 2/20/13 and it has been the best decision of my life.
I was extremely satisfied with Dr. Sadek. He spent enough time with me to answer all my questions and concerns. He had excellent "bedside manner" as well. My surgery came off without any problems and things are working out just fine. His office staff was also completely professional. Overall a very positive experience so far. I would definitely recommend Dr. Sadek in the future.
Dr. Sadek is an excellent bariatric surgeon. I have had VSG revision from Lap Band and am very happy with the results. He is always available to answer questions and is eminently helpful during every step of the process. I would recommend his services to anyone looking for a gentle hand and patient physician.
