My first impression of Dr. Lin was that he
seemed very relaxed, and very knowledgable
about the surgery, which was good! haha.
He put me at ease and his staff were very
kind and checked in on me while I was
watching the video and asks me questions.
He really focuses in on you and I was so
nervous that I did not realize at first.
He talked to me honestly about the risks
of surgery and also told me that i would
have to have my gallbladder and spleen
removed to prevent further complications.
I haven't had more appointments with him
but i have been doing research on my own
so I would recommend that when you go to him
you have questions written down because
it seems that he will expect you to have
done a lot of research.(my impression) i have
confidence in him but I will update as time
goes on.I did wish that he alloted a little
more time for the appointments and he did
not talk about aftercare much ( i did not know enough
then to ask). But i do know about it know
and will ask questions at my nextappt.
I was very excited to see him on television
a few weeks after my first appointment,
explaining the surgery. He was calm,
composed, smooth, but not fake as he
explained everything. And his patient on
TV was absolutely thrilled! And that helped
too!

I met with Dr Lin for the first time in the beginning of May. My first impression was a good one. I liked the 1/2 hour video they let you watch. It makes you feel like he's right there in the room talking to you. The office staff was very friendly and helpful.
The vist with Dr Lin was a litte short. From what I did see, he seems to be very caring and concerned.

I found doctor Lin to be very professional and yet very personable too. I feel very confident in his surgical skills and impressed by his education, professional status and compassion. I also met one of the residents who works with him and he too was very impressive. They were both pretty serious as is this procedure.

Kathy in the office helped me get some pre-visit footwork done too.

First impression was that he was trying to talk me out of the surgery and appeared negative. The next time I saw him he had
a very positive attitude and was friendly. I was pleasantly supprised by the overwelming support of him and his staff. From
the time I awoke in post-op I was verry happy with his staff doctors and support. They came to check on me frequently and each
one seemed to have their own speciality and were very concerned.
As of this time, operation + 12 days there is absolutely nothing I like least about Dr Lin. He or part of his staff have been there
each time i need them.
Going thru pre-op testing one of the anasthesioligist said Dr Lin is one of the best surgeons at G.W. I believe him.
I don't know about aftercare yet because i won't see him until May 16.
He addressed the risk of surgery to me as very serious thus i mistook his surley attitude.
So far with the results I'm having and my recovery I don't see how I can possibly rate him higher, I couldn't be happier.

Both surgical competance and bedside manner were great.

I met with my surgeon for the first time today. I was surprised at how at ease I felt when he walked in the room. He spoke very well and on a level that I could understand. He allowed my husband and myself all the time we needed to get answers to the questions we had.I think Dr Lin was impressed with the knowledge I have gained on the internet about the surgery. He told me about a very good after care right next door and will lead me to a good nutrisionist if I didn't have one.I was very comfortable with my total experience today and I am so excited to get on with this. The Scheduling
Coordinator Annetta was very sweet and helpful as was all of the staff. I had an appointment to go and talk to another surgeon and I have decided to cancel that. This just feels right. Parking was the pits, I will take the metro for my next visit.

My impression of Dr. Lin was very favorable even before I met him in person because I received a video of two TV news interviews he gave from the referral service that I got his name from. The first important thing was that I could understand him because his english is native. The second thing and most important was he completely understands the trouble we have losing weight.

On meeting him I found him well organized and ready to address every concern. He spent a lot of time making sure I was clear about the risks of the surgery.

His office staff are friendly and helpful and I have found them to be very responsive.

There are no negatives about him to report.

He made it clear that I will need to make use of the services available from GWU hospital. I think each person should take responsibility for their own knowledge and so I have been reading extensively from many web sites besides this one and have found the Yahoo Groups http:groups.yahoo.com/group/GastricBypass-InfoCenter extremely helpful and informative.

I give Dr.Lin a 10 out out of 10 and have confidence in both his surgical competence and bedside manner.

I absolutely love Dr. Lin!!!He's personal, personable and he actually listens to what the patient has to say. He was interested in what I knew about the surgery as well as what I need to know. He was very thorough and precise.

Dr. Lin is in my opinion - a great surgeon, he was
there for me when I was readmitted for blood clots and
mastitis in my right breast. I was one sick lady for
awhile. I personally did not think that I was going
to survive the hospital stays. His aftercare program is
great. Dr. Lin has to keep reminding me that I have a
slower metabolism than others and to be patient with my
weight loss. It will happen.

I am 7 months down now and I have to see him
every two months now.

He has been very helpful and was his staff.
He went over the risks quite frankly and answered
my daughter's questions as well.
I would recommend him to other patients.

He is a very concerned individual and will help you
any way possible to make your transition to the
other side and comfortable as possible.

He won't do LAP RNY because the many
complications that are associated with the
surgery.

I am going in for a revision distal bypass on
Jan 19, 2001. Need all of your prayers and luck.
Did not lose the weight that he wanted in a years
time. I am very concerned.

I HAVE ONLY SEEN DR LIN TWICE. HE WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL AND EXPLAINED EVERYTHING TO ME IN DETAIL. HE ALSO GAVE ME ALOT OF WRITTEN INFORMATION INCLUDING POST OP DIET TO TAKE HOME AND READ BEFORE I MADE MY DECISION TO HAVE THIS SURGERY. ON THE SECOND VISIT HE EXPLAINED THE POSSIBLE COMPLICATIONS AND ASKED IF I HAD ANY MORE QUESTIONS.

DR.PAUL LIN. HE IS A VERY SERIOUS SURGEON. WHEN YOU MEET WITH HIM, HE DOES EYE TO EYE CONTACT. HE MAKES SURE YOU UNDERSTAND ALL THE PROS AND CONS OF THE SURGERY. HE SAID HE WILL STAY IN THE ROOM UNTIL YOU ARE SATIFIED THAT ALL YOUR QUESITONS ARE ASKED. AND HE DID. THEY TALK VERY HIGHLY OF HIM AT THE HOSPITAL. ON THE FIRST APPOINTMENT HE GAVE ME 8 PAGE INSTRUCTION SHEETS ON WHAT TO EXPECT BEFORE AND AFTER THE SURGERY. INCLUDING THE DIET. THE STAFF WAS VERY NICE. SO FAR I LIKE EVERYTHING ABOUT HIM.
