In my opinion Dr. Kemmeter is not only a highly skilled surgeon but a really nice person. My experience of him and the entire staff at the Center for Health Excellence in Grand Rapids is that they are concerned about you as a total person and not just a medical case. (They are a little slow about returning messages.)
I hate to be overly positive, but I really have nothing negative to add about Dr. Kemmeter.
When I met with Dr. Kemmeter, I found him to be direct, informative and pleasant. I was impressed with Dr. Kemmeter when I heard him speak at an informational seminar at the Center for Health Excellence, which is why I chose him as my surgeon. Before I went for my surgical consult, I read a book about WLS that scared me to the point that I almost decided not to have the surgery. When I went for my surgical consult, I was a little nervous and and somewhat uncertain about having WLS. Dr. Kemmeter didn't try to convince me one way or the other, but he did help by addressing my concerns and answering all of my questions regarding the after-effects and risks of surgery. Katelyn (I believe she was one of the assistants) was very kind and took her time to explain as much as she could and put my mind at ease. Also, Brian (the psychologist) had a great sense of humor and seemed to be a very caring person. I was treated with respect at MMPCs Center for Health Excellence, which is so important when you're dealing with the issues that overweight patients deal with.
first impression was that he looked VERY young, lol. But he seems very knowledgeable and kind.
Over time my impreesion has just gotten better, he is kind, considerate and CARES about his patients. The office staff at MMPC is wonderfull, they all help you and are very nice and cheerfull and fully respectfully of you. There was nothing at all I did not like about Dr Kemmeter. Aftercare is a MAJOR thing at the mmpc, they don't just do the surgery and send you on your way. He told me all the details and risks of surgery and made sure I understood it all.
I would give Dr Paul Kemmeter and the MMPC the highest rating advailable, they are just great! surgical competence and bedside manner wedded in bliss!!!
they say no one has a 100% postitive experience but I did, nothing phony or suspect about it!
My first impression of Dr. Kemmeter was one of a very concerned and caring person and one who was very knowledable of what he was telling me.
My impression of him over time was proven to be correct and the only thing I had not thought of was that he was a religeous man also and took the time to pray with me when I was having issues or before preforming any tests like my scopes and I thought that was really a wonderful thing for your doctor to do.
The staff have all been wonderful to me and they are just as caring as he since they call at times to make sure that I'm doing ok and always call me back with answers to any questions that I have called about, they well even e-mail back to me answers to questions that I have.
There was really nothing that I didn't like about him.
I think that everyone should just know that he is a very caring person and cares about his patients on a personal level and if you want him to pray with you then he is more than happy to do that. He believes that God guides him in what he does and is with him for every procedure and I think that is really nea.
After care is a big deal and you will have many appointments and phone calls so he can keep track of how you are doing.
The program is very structured and you see specific individuals when needed starting after the first 2 weeks of surgery through your first year.
He was very honest about all of the risks that could happen with the surgery and he also shared his personal record when I asked.
I would recommend in to anyone that is considering have this surgery done he is wonderful.
Both are great and he has them.
I haven't had surgery yet. Everything is ok but waiting for insurance companys ok. I am under my husbands insurance-Blue Cross/Blue Shield thru GM - traditional. The person from Dr. Kemmeter's office said it could take from 6 to 8 weeks. Hope it is soon.
My first impression of Dr Kemmeter seemed to be just like others I have read. He seemed young but very helpful, concerned and didn't berate or look down on you because of being overweight. His whole office was reassuring and confident and caring.
There is an aftercare program and his office suggested getting on this site for help or support.
My first impression of Dr. Kemmeter was a good one. I felt very comfortable with him and felt that he was quite frank and honest with me about everything we discussed. The office staff is great at MMPC. Someone is always smiling at you or back at you. I appreciate Dr. Kemmeter taking me on as a patient due to other strikes that were against me in regards to my health as well as request that I had for a bloodless surgery. He has a good bedside manner and humored my 9 year old nephew that was totally against the doctor taking me away into the operating room.
Due to the high-risk of my surgery, I give him a 10 rating overall.
1. Very nice compasionate man.
2. Still have the same impression of him.
3. Like all people there except one nurse. She never smiles and doesn't say anything pleasant. Feels as though she is just there for the job. Maybe I should say something the next time I am in.
4. No problems with Dr. Kemmenter. Very quick to respond to post operative complications.
5. Very capable surgeon. Post operative problems were taken care of by his colleague Dr. Baker due to surgery schedules. Very nice man too.
6. Aftercare is part of the total treatment through his office.
7. Very structured after care program. The nutritionist and exercisologist were very helpful. My suggestion would be that a patient see the behaviorist at the first sign of emotions getting out of control, such as depression. I had to seek remedies on my own. Was not expecting that particular post-operative side effect. I should have done some research on this possible complication.
8. All risks were addressed at the orientation and at the pre-op appointment. One should seriously consider these risks. I did not and unfortunately had a couple of them. Good results and care from the doctors though.
9. I would rate him very competent.
10. Both are great
Last comment. Ultimately, one is responsible for one's own recovery and health. I wish I had done some research prior to the surgery, but I am now making up for it. Nothing that I have experienced is that out of the ordinary. I would never deliberately discourage anyone from haveing this surgery or using this surgeon. He did a great job.
