Dr. Macik is a man of few words. I think he spoke more to me in the pre-op visit than he did in any of my three post-op hospital round visits. However, he and his partner, Dr. Waits, are very thorough. I had to undergo numerous tests pre-op, but preferred it that way. Yes, they were a pain in the backside, but I knew, going into surgery that THEY knew every thing that could be wrong with my health and they were taking all of the necessary precautions.
The office staff is very nice. They are very helpful and supportive.
Risks of surgery were accesses very well. I was required to attened a support group and a meeting at the hospital to let me know what to expect.
I would rate he, and Dr. Waits, a 9. (I rarely give doctors a 10) and would highly recomend him.
I liked Dr. Macik right from the start. He was very nice and made me feel comfortable. The office staff is very well informed about whats going on and how to handle things.I think the office is very busy, but thats to be expected. Just let them handle the insurance and do exactly like they tell you to do. The aftercare is great. They dont really address the risks as much as it should be discussed, in my opinion. I didn't have any problems but so many people do. Overall, they are great.
I am scheduled for my surgery 3/24/03. I have met Dr. Macik twice now and he has been rather shy both times. However he seems very knowledgeable and takes the time to answer all your questions. You don't feel rushed when speaking to him. Mary Francis appears to be the nicest of the staff. Karen is direct and to the point but I like that, she definetly knows her job. Nancy is not the friendliest person I have ever met, but if I don't have a lot of contact with her. I didn't need a lot of help with them for insurance approval, I handled most of that myself. But if I did have any questions or needed anything with regards to insurance they were very helpful. I attended the pre-op meeting at the hospital followed by the support group.
I have met Dr. Macik only once back last July for my initial appointment/evaluation. He seemed pleasant and competent. My insurance company - Aetna PPO royally messed up my precert so I've been fighting them since this time. I was finally approved in January and my surgery date is March 31. I'll meet with Dr. Macik again soon and I'll fill you in on that meeting.
Dr. Macik is very nice. Seems to be a bit shy. He went over my history with me and said I was a great candidate for LAP. He stongly emphasizes aftercare. His nurse Mary Frances was friendly and kind. Karen "the insurance goddess" is all business, not too friendly, but if there is anyone to get you approved by your insurance she is the gal.
he seemed meek, My impression did not change, Karen and Nancy are great, I did not find anything yet that I did not like, His program is very adiment about longterm aftercare and support group attendance, From 1 to 10, he's about an 8 in my book so far, Surgical competence is great, Not sure about bedside manner yet, let me have surgery pre-op appointment and surgery then I will adress that. I have heard he was an angel.
I THINK DR. PAUL MACIK IS WONDERFUL. MY FIRST IMPRESSION IS THAT HE APPEAR TO BE VERY SMART AND RESERVED. AFTER SPEAKING WITH HIM I FEEL CONFIDENT AND IN GOOD HANDS. HE EXPLAINED EVERYTHING ABOUT THE SURGERY AND RISKS. HIS STAFF IS VERY NICE AND WORK VERY HARD TO GET YOU APPROVED. I ALSO MET WITH DR MACIK AND STAFF AT A SUPPORT GROUP AT NORTHSIDE HOSP. I LEFT THE MEETING FEELING 100% ABOUT THE DOCTOR DOING THE SURGERY. I LISTENED TO SEVERAL SUCCESS STORIES OF DR. MACIK'S PATIENTS TALK ABOUT POST OP CARE AND HOW WELL THEY WERE DOING AFTER THE SURGERY. MY FAITH IS STRONGER NOW AND I FEEL MORE CONFIDENT ABOUT MY DECISION.
I liked him very much. He was forthright with him information.
His assistant Karen is uncooperative and acts very superior. His staff does not seem to want to offer help with the insurance company and I have been at this since Sept 18, 2002. This only my impression of her and should not influence others
I had my initial consultation with Dr. Waits September 16. He seemed to be a very nice man. He is older I found out later will probably be retiring in the next few years. He went over the procedure top to bottom in a group session and we had a q&a seeion afterwards. Liked the fact that he seems very proactive in the aftercare and knows what will happen and has put in the place necessary meds to solve the issues before they become problems. Ofiice staff is very efficient Karen takes care of the insurance and is very to the point and takes no guff but will get you approved if at all possible.
Aftercare program is very important they have a support group meeting once a month, have a psychiatrist on staff and have check ups every three months after the initial ones right after surgery.
Surgery done Jan. 13 by Dr Macik(Dr. Waits partner) much younger very skilled. Surgery went very well came home on the 16th and feel better everyday.
Liked both doctors would have liked to see them a little more but overall they are both very good and would recommendthem to anyone in the north Georgia area
