On June 12, 2003 I met my Bariatric Surgeon Dr. Patricia Choban for my initial meeting. I thought she was very friendly, direct, and confident. She made me feel comfortable about the RNY-Surgery Process. Her staff was helpful and willing to anwser all of my questions. Dr. Choban has been doing Bariatric Surgery now for approximately 12 years.
Dr. Choban took time to explain all of the risks of the surgery and emphasized the aftercare program. Overall, she was extremely careing and approachable.
I am feeling very confident about having her as my bariatric surgeon.
Next, I need to get my medical records in so that we can get a date scheduled.
I am looking forward to getting my surgery date.
After my consultation with Dr Choban, I felt at ease knowing I am in good hands. She explained everything in detail about the surgery and even drew a diagram on board about RNY. She said I will have Open- RNY. I am glad I chose her to be my surgeon. Watch for Updates! Five months later...all I could say that Dr. Choban has done a great job!!!
well i met with the surgeon on 2-13-03, and really liked her. she is very quick and to the point. she readily answered all of my questions. she has a great deal of experience, 11 years in the field. that makes me feel more comfortable. the staff at the grove city bariatric center are very helpful and friendly. i only met with dr choban one time so i really can't give any negatives. she stresses greatly the aftercare that is needed. it is a life long commitment and you can only be successful with full commitment and support from those who have experience with this. it is as if it is one big family readily to help when needed and pick you up if you fall. dr choban tells all the risks as well as the positive aspects of the surgery. overall she is rated very high based on first impression. i would rather have surgical competence over bedside manner, but both together would be great.
She was very caring, and took time to talk to me. The office staff are all very nice, and alot of them have had the surgery. The one thing I didn't like is that after my surgery, I only saw her once. The other two days, I saw Dr. Adolph, one of her associates, but I'm not sure if she was off because it was the weekend or what. It really didn't matter, Dr. Adolph was very helpful. She expects you to follow very strict aftercare procedures. There is a structured aftercare program. Overall, I thought she was a great surgeon. For an open RNY, I only had a 4 1/2 inch incision, and everything went smoothly. She is very experienced in Bariatric Surgery, and I would highly recommend her to anyone searching to have the surgery.
In my opinion, you don't really care about the bedsided manner once you are out of surgery, because you just want to get good nurses who can help control the pain. I would base my decision on surgical competence all the way.
My first impression of Dr. Choban was excellent and my impression remained that way pre-op through post-op. Dr. Choban is a professional, competent, and caring individual. Her office staff were equally as wonderful. I can't begin to express my appreciation to all of them. Anyone interested in having WLS needs to call or visit a Bariatric Treatment Center. They will never be sorry. Dr. Choban and her staff explained all aspects of the surgery and the aftercare in an easy to understand manner. She went through the benefits and the risks of having the surgery and answered all of my questions honestly and completely. Dr. Choban's surgical competence and her bedside manner were both wonderful. Overall, I would rate Dr. Choban and the staff at the Bariatric Treatment Center to be outstanding.
today 02-11-03 i met with dr patricia choban and right away she made me feel very comfortable, in fact the entire staff was great. she thoroughly explained the surgery as well as risks that can happen before, during and after. she explained short term and long term care. everything was easy to understand. so far i feel comfortable for her to do the surgery. she said she has performed bariatric surgery for 11 years. she really emphasizes the aftercare to make sure that you are are the right path and cares what happens to you down the line. she definately stresses that this is a life long relationship. as far as what is most important, surgical competence or bedside manner they both go hand in hand. you must feel competant and comfortible with the surgeon as well as their staff. they say first impressions mean alot.
I've only seen my surgeon once so far but I thought she was very nice. She made me feel comfortable right from the start. She was very frank about the surgery and the risks involved. I thought the staff was very nice and a lot of them have had WLS so they definately can relate to how I was feeling. I have been approved and am waiting to get a date for surgery.
