Adjustable Gastric Band
My first impression with Dr W was that he was a very nice man. Had some age to him which to me means experience. He was clear eyed and soft spoken. My initial consult was very brief....15 min at the most. I had researched intensely and had no questions. I was eager to be accepted and get the ball rolling. I was told I was an excellant candidate and everything went smoothly from then on. He has great support people from nurses to appointment makers.
The aftercare program at Penn is absolutely terrific! There is a well established support group that anyone can utilize and even independant monthly luncheons where we meet laugh, cry and share stories.
As far as bedside manner and surgical competance...A+++ I would highly recommend Dr W to anyone contemplating gastric bypass.
I would have appreciated at least seeing him as I was being wheeled into the OR. I never have seen him since my surgery for a personal visit and I am 9 weeks out (1-16-04) I have been dealing with the nurse practioners and the nutritionist of whom both are terrific about helping and answering any questions that may arise.
I first met Dr. Williams on January 10, 2004
what a very "well pressed" gentleman, he was very friendly he made me feel that we've known each other, made me feel very comfortable. He explained every step of the surgery in full detail, there were no questions left for me to ask.
His support team at HUP are all wonderful, they welcomed you with open arms, it was amazing to me how well the worked as a team, every person on the staff that I came in contact with was extremely friendly, the gave alot of information, they covered every possible angle. With the support that they all have I know that I am in good hands.
When I first met Dr. Williams, he was a very serious person concered about me. And that was to me important that he was to the point and very imforative about the surgery. I thank him for saving my life and now I can enjoy things in life that I could not have done 388lbs ago. He's the best and cares alot. I recommend him to everyone I come in contact with.
Dr. Williams gives a great first impression. Soon as he walked into the exam room I knew I wanted him to perform this surgery on me. The office staff prior to my consult leaves a lot to be desired, but I do not hold that against such a good surgeon. In contrast, his assistant Patti Smith is terrific. When dealing with her you must realize she is just as busy or even more so than Dr. Williams. She is always kind and willing to assist but she is hard to get on the phone, patience is very important.
Dr. Williams addressed the risks of surgery and gave me a realistic opinion on what my results should be.
Well I have finally gotten to meet with Dr. Williams. I immediately got the impression that he is caring and takes all the time necessary to describe the surgery and answer any questions. I don't think that I will have any problems, he definitely gave me the impression that I will go through this surgery fine(he actually told me so). It was very comforting.
I think that he is highly qualified and his staff is all very nice. They are all very competent at their jobs.
They all emphasis aftercare, which is soo important. I liked that, that they want you as educated as you can be, then help you through the whole process.
The only thing I think I can say that I didn't like was the 3hrs I had to wait to see him. But I guess if he didn't have soo many people waiting for him, he probably wouldn't be that good of a surgeon. I feel he has a good bedside manner and excellent surgical competence. But I guess I can comment more after I have the surgery.<br>
POST OP- I am so glad I went with Dr. Williams, he is an awesome surgeon and a very nice man. He doesn't let things go to his head, he is very personable. He visited me a couple of times while I was in and his staff visited me daily. I received such great care from everyone at his office and no question was stupid. I can't sing their praises enough. They saved my life. And here i have a clotting disorder, they took very serious and I ended up having to have a filter in and everyone was awesome. I think now after being post op I would give him a rating of 98 (nobody is perfect...lol).
My first impression of Dr. Williams was a good one, which first impressions are always the best.
I was very comfortable with Dr. Williams & his staff, which is also a major plus. Patty & the others are the best. They all made me feel like I was one of the family.
I tell everyone about my surgery (when the topic comes up of how I lost my weight) I highly recommend to them Dr. Williams for surgery because he does everything the way it should be done.. the right way the first time.
The aftercare was also good, had nurses & therapist come visit me for the first 2 weeks to make sure I was getting around, to make sure I was cleaning my JP tube the right away & there was no infections in the surgery areas.
If there's any questions you'd like to ask, please feel free to email me at [email protected]
My first impression of Dr. Williams was I hope you are worth the wait, cause the wait is long! But he is. I loved the beautiful eyes, and accent. Past that, I found him to be very friendly. He did answer my questions and drew out a diagram for me to show me what he was going to do. The office staff is very busy, but very nice. He has a new nurse from the last time I was there. Her name is Patty and she is great. She will answer my questions, and calm my fears. I don't like the wait there, everythime I go there it's atleast 2 hrs to see him. When i asked about the risks of surgery, he was very honest. But he did tell me he has not lost a patient in a very long time, and did not intend to start with me. That made me feel so much better. He is very respected as a great surgeon, and I will trust in him completely. I will just pray that God helps guide his hands. I will do my part after words, I just need DR. Williams to do his.
