Adjustable Gastric Band
I had my first consult with Dr. Williams on July 9th, 2003. I liked him from the start. He gave me the information I needed, and he was very confident that I could have the surgery done LAP just like my daughter. He explained the risks and what he does to prevent them. I was very impressed with his professionalism, although it was very easy to be comfortable around him too. He tells it like it is and that's what I like. He told me surgery would probably be some time in Sept or Oct depending on my insurance and pre-op test results. His office was packed and the wait was long, but I believe it was worth the wait. I'm having my surgery with the best surgeon at one of the best hospitals in Philadelphia...I couldn't ask for anything more.
Today 11/20/02 I got an approval with Dr. Noel Williams. I liked this man but he seemed really busy and although I didn't get to talk much with him I felt that he was good at what he does. Dr. Williams was right to the point in his explanations and left no doubt that he was in charge of your well being. He answered questions if you had any but don't expect to spend much time with him because he moves quickly. I have chosen to go with Dr Williams because I feel comfortable with his skill and they have a date of Jan 2nd set aside for me. Talk about bringing in the new year right :O)
Just think next year at this time I won't look like this......... My last winter as the "fat chick "!
1/15/03- I had my 2 week check up with Dr. Williams and he was so sweet,(even though he was running 45 mins late) he asked me if I had any problems or concerns ? I told him no and he said "keep up the good work and see you in 6-8 weeks". I told him as he turned to leave the office "Dr. Williams you saved my life " he became really humble an smiled as he said "thank you ". This man is the man to go with if you've decided to have this surgery. I never felt for one minute afraid in his skilled hands !
Dr. Williams and the Staff at University of Pennsylvania Hospital, (Philadelphia, PA) are very professional and have requirements that you must meet before they will even approve you to go through with the surgery. All patients must pass a psychological and nutrional test to make sure you are ready for the changes to come. They also require lots of pre-tests which I think is great. The require cardiac clearance, upper gi's, ultrasounds, and regular primary doctor clearance. They are wonderful. I have heard that my surgeon is phenomenol! He performs the gastric bypass RYN laparascopically with great success rates.
I thought Dr. Williams was very kind and sensitive to the weight issue. He explained in detail would would occur during the surgery and asked if I had any questions. His staff is wonderful and the nutrition staff was excellent, especially Rachel
The most important thing people who are considering this surgery need to know and be told is how their lifestyle will change and change dramatically. But the loss of the weight is going to be well worth it!
4/7 Dr Williams visited me each morning while in the hospital. His resident also came in each day. I would recommend Dr. Williams. He is very thorough with preparation and follow up for this surgery. This definitely lessens the chances of post-op complications.
My first impression of Dr.Williams was very professional looking in his atire a little stand offish which he did have alot of people to see, and since I wasn't there to make friends it didn't matter. His staff are very polite. Especially Susan (his assistant)she was very heplful in all areas.I like him very much as a doctor.
Dr. Williams is fantastic. Not to mention has the handsomest green eyes, LOL!!!! He reminds me the Sean Connery of the Medical field.
Anyhow, he is super!!! Great bedside manner. Real patient and knows what he is doing!!!
He is very knowledgable and spelled everything out for me. I was not scared at all!!!
I was thankful to have such an excellent and competent surgeon.
