Went through the testing process tests and submitted documents to my insurance company. Timing is everything. Dr. Krahn left US Bariatrics and Aetna HMO denied my claim (they had previously approved him pending his evaluation). My insurance carrier changed as of January 1, and I am now redirecting my energy to Dr. Muhammad Jawad in Ocala. I have read some very encouraging material on this site about his manner and skill, and have also heard that Ocala Memorial is the best hospital in Florida for this surgery. Wish me luck and I will keep you posted!

I briefly met with Dr. Jawad in November 2002. He was very professional and to the point. I am scheduled to see him in March for an pr-op appt. Hopefully at that appointment I will have the opportunity to get to know him better.

I made my appointment in November for January 9 at 2:30.

When we arrived there was a presentation going on to about 8 prospective patients. (This was a surprise because I thought my appointment at 2:30 was with the doctor. I should have been told to come at 2:00. It would have been nice if the office had let me know there was going to be a presentation to prospective new patients.) After the presentation, the doctor consulted with each of us. I was at the doctor's office from about 2:15 until about 4:30. I saw the doctor for about 5-10 minutes.

During the presentation, he said he has performed the operation 480+ times and had lost one patient. He said he had a few others (two or three) that experienced complications. (Blood clot, infection.)

The doctor seemed pleasant enough, though quite business-like.

WELL A FIRST I THOUGHT I CAN'T FIND ANYTHING ON THIS DROCTOR. THEN I STARTED TO SEE HIS NAME AND ALL OF THE POSTINGS ABOUT HIM.... WHEN I GOT TO THE OFFICE TO SEE HIM.HE I ISN'T VERY BIG ON WORDS.. HE REALLY KNOWS HIS THING SO I FELT REALLY REALLY COMFORTABLE LETTING HIM DO MY SURGERY... NOW AS FOR HIS STAFF THEY SEEM FIND. BUT THEN THINGS STARTED TO HAPPEN TO MY PAPER WORK AND I COULDN'T GET CALLS RETURNED. BUT THEN THINGS GOT WORST BECAUSE I NEED TO HAVE SOME TEST DONE AND I HAD BEEN CALLING. THERE OFFICE FOR WEEKS AND THEY WOULD NEVER RETURN MY CALLS.. NOW THAT I THNK ABOUT IT I
M SURE WHAT HAPPEN. BECAUSE SOME PEOPLE CAN'T GET THREW TO OUR PHONE FOR SOME REASON. THEY HAVE TO KEEP CALLING AND CALLING... SO I DON'T BLAME THEM 100% DOCTOR JAWAD IS VERY GOOD.I'M SURE IF COULD HAVE GOTTEN OUR PHONE STITUATION SETTLED THEN I WOULD RATE THE STAFF HIGHER...AS FOR HIS BED SIDE MANNERS THEY ARE REALLY GOOD HE CAME IN TO SEE ME.. HE MADE A JOKE ABOUT MY HEIGHT(4'11) THAT I DIDN'T FILL THE BED ALL THE WAY UP... NOW THERE OFFICE MAYBE VERY GOOD BUT THAT WAS JUST THAT ONE THING THAT HAPPEN TO ME.. My first impression of Dr. Jawad was he is a very nice guy and I like him alot. My impression of has not changed at all. His staff is very nice and helpful. I liked everything about him. He is a very caring person. He explained all of the risks of the surgery and made sure that I under stood them. I would rate him on a scale of 1-10 a 11. I THINK THAT BOTH ARE GREAT.

DR.JAWAD WAS VERY NICE AND COMPLETELY EXPLAINED EVERYTHING INCLUDING POSSIBLE RISKS AND SIDE AFFECTS DURING MY FIRST VISIT. HE ALSO GAVE ME THE OPPORTUNITY TO ASK HIM ANY QUESTIONS I NEED TO ASK.THE OFFICE STAFF WAS VERY NICE AND EXTREMELY FRIENDLY(PEPPER), VERY INFORMATIVE ALSO GAVE ME THE OPPORTUNITY TO ASK ANY QUESTIONS. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND DR.JAWAD AND HIS STAFF TO ANYONE.

My first impression of Dr. Jawad was that he was a quiet person, not very big on words. I even told my friend who accompanied me and was inquiring about the surgery also, she replied "who cares", I just want him to be a skilled suregeon, not talkative!
I still think he's relatively quiet, but pleasant and informatiave, nevertheless!
The office staff was extremely helpful, every time that I called in for a question or needed anything, they were quick to respond.
I cannot think of anything that I just did not like about him.
If you have any questions that he did not cover, he will definitely answer them for you.
He stresses aftercare and following the procedure that he has given to us.
I would say, from what I have been told the aftercare is structured. I have yet to actually experience it.
So far, so good and everything that I have heard about him is excellent.
I have not experienced "bedside manner" yet or surgical competence.

Dr. Jawad is a very quiet physician till you ask him a question about the surgery then he knows anything you want to know. I would only trust Dr. Jawad to do my operation. He is a very precise physician in the operating room. His office staff is remarkable. The first 2 days post-op I called about everything and they always reassured me things were fine. Dr. Jawad went over and over the importance of vitamins and the post care that is needed. My judgement is so high of Dr. Jawad that my sister in another city is striving to have Dr. Jawad perform her surgery. Dr. Jawad deserves any and all awards for the best surgeron.

I have an appointment to see Dr. Jawad on 01/09/03 @ 1:30. I'm very anxious. I heard many good things about him so I'm really looking forward to the consultation.

I was pleased with Dr. Jawad upon my initial consultation. I'm very happy with his fee of 10K for the LapBand on an outpatient basis, as I will be self-paying.
