I meet with Dr. Jawad on Thursday May 3, 2007. He seemed to be a nice man. He was very quite he seems like he does not have alot to say... no nonsense kind of guy! His office staff are awesome! They return calls quickly and they seem like they are really concerned with your well being! Great staff. Both Dr. Jawad and his staff have encourage me to do all of my follow up appointments so that I will be able to obtain the maxium weight loss and continue to be healthy. I feel that I have been given all of the possible scenarios and that I have not been mislead in any fashion. Dr. Jawad came highly recommended by several of my co-workers. My only negative comment would be for the pre-op presentation that all presenters come together to have less overlap in information. It was a really long day... but other then that it has been a great experience.
my first impression was this man is excellent i wanted him to do the surgery the same day he was so confident in himself and me that it will be a smooth harmless procedure and less time in the operation room only 60 minutes.he is still highly recommended and his office staff are excellent i got result immediately even when i thought i woulnd'nt.has worked with the hospital for 20 years very known in the hospital of great reputation and concern for patients.i rate him 10 stars if the scale goes that high he has bedside and sugical competence.
Dr. Jawad is truly is an angel. He saved my life. My first impression of him was that he seemed kind of reserved, but then he loosened up as time went on. He is very knowledgable in his field and I would recommend him to anyone that has decided to go on the same journey that I chose. His office staff is very well trained and they make you feel like one of the family. His aftercare is very detailed and he advises to follow to the \"T\". When I first decided on the surgery, my main concern was all of my medical conditions. He addressed all the risks and how my chances were much riskier than the normal obese patient. Let's face it, wouldn't you rather know the truth from the get-go than be faced with a bump in the road later and say, \"I wish I had known...\"? For that i was very thankful. Overall, I would rate him the best in Florida and would never go to anyone else. His numbers speak for themselves. He is just OUTSTANDING!!!
Dr Jawad was a good surgeon in that I have had no complications since these first few weeks post-op. He is very nice and takes time to answer questions. I had a few questions during the first week or so after the surgery after hours and he responded promptly and was very good at assuaging my concerns.
Dr. Jawad and his team are like a well oiled machine! His office is very comfortable (even an indoor koi fishpond!), and his staff is always friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. It is very easy to contact his office, and calls are promptly returned. I truly believe that a doctor's staff is a reflection of his character.rnrnWe were very well educated as to what to expect at every step of the way : pre- and post-op . We were even given a powerpoint presentation with Dr. Jawad, his RN, nutritionist, and physical therapist. We were given folders full of useful info, and even a DVD with all the info in case you don't want to read.rnrnDr. Jawad himself is quiet, but friendly. He is willing to listen to all concerns and will answer all questions with complete patience. I felt complete confidence in his abilities. rnrn Dr. Jawad was born in Jaffa in 1945. He attended medical school in Cairo, Egypt and graduated with Honors in 1969. He completed his surgical training in Chicago, Illinois at Cook County Hospital from 1972-1979, then he practiced in Jackson, Alabama at Jackson Hospital from 1979-1981.rnrnPerforming General and Vascular Surgery, Dr. Jawad has been practicing in Ocala since 1981. Board certified through the American Board of Surgery and a member in good standing with many organizations including; Fellow of American College of Surgeons, American Society of Bariatric Surgeons, and the Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons.rnrnAn expert in the laparoscopic field, Dr. Jawad has performed thousands of cases since this technique has been offered. Dr. Jawad is an awesome surgeon. I had the Lapband done in Feb 2003. At that time the support I received from the office staff was awesome.rnSeptember 23, 2006, I discovered a large massrnaround my naval area. It was diagnosed as an 11cm hernia close to the port location of the Lapband. A totally freakish thing!rnDr. Jawad looked at the CT scan and decided the band and hernia should be removed; since I am still way obese I wanted to proceed with the RNY bypass.rnI have been SO dissaspointed with the staff in trying to get these other procedures completed.rnAfter more calls than I can count made to check the status of my United Healthcare PPO insurance. I was finally told on November 7, 2006 that my paperwork had been lost and would have to be resubmitted. Had I not continued to call; I'm concerned no one would have ever followed up on United reply. My husband finally called to get an immediate response.rnSeveral weeks later I received authorization for the Lapband removal but Odallas indicated she had not requested authorization for the hernia removal. Now it's close to Christmas. This has all been going on for 3 months!rnIn January I received authorization for the hernia removal and Lapband removal. The RNY gastric bypass had not been approved by United.rnWhen I spoke with United they indicated the Lapband removal was usually not a covered procedure but Dr. Jawad had written an awesome letter to show the medical neccessity; So United would allow the surgery. At this time United Healthcare also indicated my employer OfficeMax had opted to exclude any obesity procedures on their policy. United indicated if my Dr's office would give them the documentation for a medically necessary bypass they would consider approving the procedure like they had with the Lapband removal. United said the paperwork for the RNY simply said diagnosis; Morbid Obesity.rnI was so excited after hearing the reponse from United. I called Odallas at Dr. Jawad's office. I left her several voicemail messages. Finally days later when she returned my call; She said United would never pay for the procedure if there was an exclusion and the only diagnosis that would be given to them was morbid obesity.rnIn Feb 2007, I tried to go ahead and schedule the hernia and band removal. I'd just have to wait for the RNY. After 3 calls to scheduling; I finally got a return call. Scheduling left a voicemail for me, I have not returned the call; today is March 11, 2007 and I have not heard from anyone to schedule my surgery.rnBottom line I know Dr. Jawad is the best! I even tried to make an appointment to talk to Dr. Jawad about my ongoing issues with his staff. The office would not let me make an appointment nor would they let me leave him a phone message. I thought if I talked to him maybe he could write the letter my insurance requested on my behalf. I'm not sure if I write a letter he will ever get it. rnI can't tell you how dissapointed I am! I feel some of the staff is unwilling to think outside the box to help the patients.rnLet's face it, I'm trying to save my life! I'm so discouraged! Any suggestions? Has anyone else experienced this? Help Anyone!rnrn
