Just one word AMAZING! My first impression of Dr. Gagner was, he was very quiet, nice, tall, and smart individual. His bedside manner was expectacular visited me twice a day until I was discharged. Had a couple of issues with the communication at the beginning with his office but it did get better. Overall he is a very gifted human being and everyone considering the DS should do it with Dr. Gagner.
I began investigating surgeon to perform a DS surgery on a Sunday afternoon. I had been researching WLS for a while and had decided that the DS was the procedure that would be best for me. I email three surgeon on Sunday and Dr. Gagner emailed me back the same day. I could not believe there was a surgeon so dedicated that he would do that. I researched him and discovered that he was one of the best. I have to say that I could not be happier with the surgery...or the surgeon. He is warm, caring, knowledgeable and I beleive he truly cares about people. He is a very special man.
What can I say? He is \"the Master\". His expertise is world famous. He is quiet and caring, takes time to listen, and answers his own emails. I have no complaints. I had absolutely no complications, and now that he is in Miami instead of New York, I will get a great vacation out of it if I need to see him again! He's perfect! rnrnHis PA, Allison was nice, as was his nutritionist, Liz. The inpatient care at New York Presbyterian was awful, and I'm a nurse, so I know awful when I experience it. Getting in and out of NYC was a nightmare. My stay at the hospital's hotel, the Helmsley Towers was pleasant and convenient. I'm doing great.
Dr. Mark Reiner - Mt. Sinai Hospital, NYCrnrnNice demeanor, took time to talk to mernrnIt has improved, he has consistently returned all messages to me promptly even calling me at home.rnNot too good so far, having difficulty with the Surgical Nurse to confirm my daternNothing so farrnWilling to listen and will do open surgery if necessaryrnNot much, but this is my second time around and he volunteered to get me a nutritionist if necessaryrnNo unfortunatelyrnMostly he was concerned I would stroke again and begged me not to- not he was open and honest about the possible problemsrnSo far, he is a 9.5rnDon't know yet, I guess time will tellrnrnrnDr. Gagner completed another revision of my RNY on July 11, 2005. He is incredibly competent and has a great staff BUT it is very difficult to find him. There were some problems throughout the past year and he was away for quite a bit of them (all medically related I am sure), but that left me in limbo several times and with no definite answers. As of now, I am scheduled for my 3rd hernia repair on July 5, 2006 and Dr. Gagner would like me to NOW consider doing a Lap Band to increase the weight loss (something I am concerned about because I have found I am capable of eating and the pouch is intact). His staff has tried to assist in everyway possible, but he is not around to answer the basic questions that every patient has - and that is disconcerting! Great doctor - wonderful skills - phantom presence!
Extremely thorough. He's the first physician I have met who opened his interview with \"OK, I'm listening\" and then did exactly that.rnHis staff was warm and supportive in their pre-assessment. From the time I signed up they started focusing on aftercare. Dr. Gagner is credited with being the most experienced VSG surgeon in the country and it shows.
I have only met with Dr. Gagner one time. I thought his office staff, including his NP Allison were very nice and positive about my surgery. They made me feel that Dr. Gagner was the right person to choose for my procedure due to the health problem I was facing. He left me confident and reassured that he will only have my best interest at hand.
Dr Gagner is awesome and highly skilled surgeon and was absolutely wonderfull. The entire process was beyond perfect and my life is 1,000,000 times better and I am so happy and have no regrets and wish to even go around the world and proclaim or discuss my sucess in future as it changed my life in so many great ways and made me the happiest person on earthrnrnDr Gargner while he is Great tells you like it is so don't expect this man to give you a rosie outlook as he will give it to you straight and sometimes you may not even like what he says but he cares and he is RIGHT
