I saw Dr. johnell on April 28th I saw the nutritionist and psychologist on April 30th. EVERYONE in the office is GREAT. Vanessa called me and kept me informed every step of the way. Gina the nutritionist is a Rock Star. At my manadatory pre-op class on May 19th Vanessa let me know that I had just gotten approved and was scheduled for surgery on May 29th. What can I say about them but God Bless Them ALL! I was in and scheduled in 30 days! rnDr Johnell made me feel as if he really cared about my quality of life. They not only have structured after care I know I can call on them for what ever I need. HE was very frank about the risks and complications that may arise but I am more then confident in his skills.rnrnI rate Dr. Johnell and his ENTIRE team a 100 out of 10. They treat me as an individual and act like my personal cheerleaders! Going to that office is better then going to Disneyland!

Dr. Johnell is the consumate professional. His support staff follow his example by conducting their business at the highest levels. Dr. Johnell made me feel totally at ease with my gastric bypass surgery from the minute I met him. I know I can always call his office and get a response that meets my emotional and physical needs. The aftercare I have received from his office is beyond others I have talked to. I would trust Dr. Johnell to operate on any of my family members and all those I love. rnrnMy surgery was November 1 and I have not experienced any problems with Dr. Johnell and his office staff, other than the misplacement of some of my pre-op paperwork (which was found a day later).

My first impression was he was totally honest and straight to the point. Since the very beginning he explained what would happen and what would be expected of me if I had the lap band done. I got a long great with everyone in the office except one girl that isnt there anymore but I absolutly love everyone in there. They answer any and all questions and are some of the nicest proffessionals ive ever dealt with. I would never second guess myself about choosing this surgon hes absolutly wonderful!!

I'm not one to write a ton of things... but My first impression of Dr. Johnell was that I was a little intimidated by him, he was very brutal about what I was getting into. My impression of him did change over the next visit. I found that he is brutal becuase he is passionate about his work and he is an amazing surgeon and I would reccommend him to anyne. Dr. Johnell's office staff is nothing less than this one word... AMAZING!!!!! Future patients should know that it might be a little hard to warm up to him that first visit but after that he is a great guy, and has a sense of humor as well. He greatly emphasizes aftercare, he wont do the surgery if he knows that you aren't going to follow his protocol. He was very thorough with explaining risks/benefits to me. After surgery he came to see me every day and make sure I was doing ok. I overall am very impressed with Dr. Johnell and am glad I had surgery with him. Overall... rating him on a 1-10 scale... I'd say a 10. THANK YOU DR. JOHNELL AND STAFF!!!

I cannot say enough good about Dr. Johnell and his staff. They are the most compasionate, professional and talented medical group I have ever dealt with. North Colorado Medical Center where I the procedure done was a great hosital. They constructed a whole new part to the hospital and everything is clean, new and the staff very friendly and helpful. rnrnPrior to surgery they provide you with a wealth of information regarding benefits, risks and realities of all WLS. The information given to you talks about all the options in surgery. The amount of paperwork I had to read and sign was almost as bad a closing a real estate deal. (LOL) If you don't get the information, it isn't because they didn't provide it. rnrnThey helped me pre-op with my physician supervised diet. (You have to lose 10% of your body weight before they will schedule your surgery). After submitting to insurance I was at first denied. They helped me to get hooked up with ObesityLaw.com who won my appeal. Through out it all they never got impatient or discouraging and returned all phone calls and answered all questions. rnrnThis doctor requires pre and post op classes. The NUT and PSYC provide lots of no cost training and support. They stress the importance of aftercare to be successful. rnrnCurrently, Dr. Johnell is the only barriactric surgeon in Colorado using the DiVinci robotic assisted surgery method. This is the leading edge technology for laproscopic procedures. Doctors using say it provides the best 3-D perspective of the organs, better than with an open procedure. It also allows greater dextarity to the surgeon than those with the conventional laprascopy. rnrnI highly recommend this surgeon and his staff to anyone looking into WLS. I can't imagine getting better care. rnrnrn

Dr. Johnell seemed smart and straightforward when I first met him, not super warm and fuzzy. Over time I got to know him better and my lasting impression is that he's great, very careful and detail oriented. His staff was supportive and made the insurance process as easy and smooth as possible. rnrnThe surgery itself was relatively easy, my recovery pain was never over a 2 on a scale of 1-10. rnrnGetting fills was easier than I expected, Paula in his office is amazing. You can't even feel her fills and she's very supportive towards helping you with weight loss.

All my dealings with office staff have been informative and supportive. I have utter confidence in Dr. Johnell. The program they offer is comprehensive and based on a great deal of research. My surgery is scheduled for August 16th, a week and one day away.

Very kind and nonjudgemental. He really sees and understands the impact of obesity to the health care of each person he treats.rnAfter care is a HUGE part of his program. Staff are wonderful and are so encouraging and supportive.

Dr. Johnell has thus far been the best WLS surgeon I have had the pleasure of working with!rnrnI'll post more on him whenever I get a chance!

I had first thought I was going to get the RNY and met with a surgeon in my town. The program at this bariatric center was not very robust. Then after some research (mainly learning that after 3 years the weight loss is the same for the band and the RNY) I changed over to the Lap Band. This procedure has never been done by the surgeons in my city so I found Dr. Johnell. It is a 2 hour drive for me and even though I have not yet had my surgery, I am very impressed with the program they offer. Very robust - focused on psychological and physiological aspects of this procedure. Lots of support groups and a very large team of nutritional professionals and nurse coordinators. I will update more when I have my surgery. rnrnAs far as the doctor himself, he is exactly what you want in a surgeon. Very informative. He wasn't dismissive with any of my questions. There was nothing salesman-ish about my consultation. He was on the serious side... but I'm not really interested in being entertained so this was not a negative.
