Keith Chung Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

After my first appointment with Dr. Chung I was impressed. He is very easy to talk to and has a very knowledgable staff. I look forward to taking this journey with him. I have only had the one appointment so far but I will update as time goes by.

The first time I met Dr. Chung was in Sept or Oct of 2008 at his seminar at Women and Children's Hospital. He completely covered ever surgery option to the group. He answered questions but did not at all try to persuade anyone to have the surgery. He pointed out all risks associated with the surgery and all of the changes you would have to make in your life after the surgery. When I left the meeting I really thought about things he said and had made up my mind to try to diet AGAIN on my on realizing that this was a life changing surgery. After a family tragedy in Dec. 08 I knew that I could not do this on my on and made my appt. with Dr. Chung. I needed to get healthy and wanted to be around to see my 7 and 8 yr olds grow up. Dr. Chung is a very Caring Doctor and has a very outgoing personality. He does not try to sugar coat anything. He and his staff are absolutely wonderful. His nurse, Jessica was very helpful to me before and after my surgery. There was absolutely nothing that I can say in a negative way about Dr. Chung or his staff. I would have to give him the highest rating possible and I am extremely greatful to him.

So far Dr.Chung has been nothing but a possitive experience and I have heard nothing but great things said about him..The staff is nothing but the best very kind and eager to help.. I will update more as time passes on..

I have been to other bariatric weight loss seminars, and felt herded in like cattle to be told \"yep you are all fat and going to die, and pay the lady on the way out.\" So, it was a full 2 yrs before I went to see Dr. Keith Chung in Lake Charles, LA. I knew several people that had been treated by him, and I have heard NO complaints. It was so easy to make the initial appointment. The staff was very friendly, and nonjudgemental. All of my questions were addressed, and they did all of the leg work when it came to handling insurance. Every promise that they have made thus far; has been kept. I am excited about my upcoming lap band procedure, and feel that God allowed me to find the right physician to take care of my needs.

Dr Chung was very knowledgeable and up front about the procedure. It went without problems.

I went to see Dr. Keith Chung after his being recommended by my family doctor and my wife's OB doctor. I work out of town most of the time, and only had a few weeks off work due to the birth of my 2nd daughter; Dr. Chung was able to see me and to do the surgery for me within two weeks. I know this isn't the normal time frame that he would like to use, but based on my circumstances he worked with me to meet my needs. I originally considered having the lap band surgery, but after talking with Dr. Chung I decided that the Sleeve was the surgery for me. I really didn't know what I was in for (I am sooo happy that I had the surgery). It was definitely a mental battle for me, I never realized the hold that food had on me; I knew that I was an emotional eater, but did not realize to what extent. Dr. Chung was very thorough with what I should expect after the surgery. I returned to work 2 weeks after my surgery, if I worked in town I could have returned to work after just 1 week. Dr. Chung's office always answers any questions you might have; and Dr. Chung is always available for his patients even after hours and on weekends. Both his surgical competence and bedside manner are great! I would recommend Dr. Chung to anyone considering Bariatric Surgery!

Dr. Chung and his staff have been truly wonderful through my journey. I decided to have the gastric sleeve surgery, which seemed like the best option for me. Dr. Chung explained the procedure to me with great detail. I did, unfortunately, have complications after surgery. Five days after surgery, I found myself back in the hospital suffering from a leak, which made me extremely ill. I was in the hospital for about 2 weeks. Dr. Chung took great care of me through the whole ordeal. He did everything he could to get me well. I continued to have problems for several months thereafter, in which Dr. Chung was there for me whenever I needed him. Even giving me his personal cell number, to call him directly with any problems, which I thought was great. He was nothing but professional. Dr. Chung handled my situation with great care and concern, to which I am very grateful. Despite all of the complications, I have no regrets. I'm about 90 pounds lighter now, and I feel great. I thank him and his staff for everything they have done!

Hi, I'm slightly behind on updating but here I am going on my 5th month out! It took a year for my insurance to approve RNY with 1 appeal. Dr. Chung is the best there is. He answered all my questions & put my fears to rest. I had all the fears everyone does with surgery but with the information he provided... my husband & I realized this was the best decision for me. I'd gained alot of weight over the years & it was becoming a serious problem. High blood pressure, gerd, sleep apnea...social withdrawal...lack of energy, etc...tried every diet with little success. My family has a history of diabetes, so that was probably next....Darla & Karen were exceptional in helping & providing information and getting the insurance processed. The staff at Women's & Children's were absolutely wonderful as well. I did so well I was able to go home pretty quick. Dr. Chung's aftercare was excellent as well. My blood pressure dropped too low within the first week (important to keep track at home) & Dr. Chung was there for me by phone on the weekend to help ... I was able to get off the Avalide B/P med.... Karen has called to check on protein & nutrition & Darla & other staff members are always there to answer any post-op questions. I have so much more energy & looking forward to vacations....gerd is gone & no longer need the apnea machine. I know it's very important to log daily the foods & liquids...some days I have to make myself take in the required amounts but it's helped my loss stay slow & steady. Dr. Chung and his staff have given me my life back & I could go on and on about it....I tried to find something negative to say but can't... Thanks y'all !!!rnTerrirn
