Excellent surgeon and is very good at explaining things and at listening. My surgery was performed on 4 Aug and I'm now nearly 6 weeks removed and have had very few problems. Any problems I have had, Dr. Kuhn and his staff have been very responsive and helpful in resolving them.

Dr Kuhn is one of the nicest docs I've ever had the pleasure to meet. Great bedside and very compassionate.

I am so thankful I have Dr Kuhn and his staff. Dr Kuhn was very professional, listened to all of my questions, and answered all of them. He explained the entire procedure to my husband and now he is very supportive. I am so grateful for that...makes my journey so much easier. He explained that with my co morbids my health should improve; my quality and longevity of life. Dr Kuhn even drew my husband a picture on the exam room table paper to explain the procedure. I rate Dr Kuhn A+++ and would not let anyone else perform my surgery. Cindy has been great at returning my calls and helping me make sure I have everything in place for certification. I just read below that negative or neutral input was more/less informative, I have nothing so far to make me and my personal experience anything but what it has been - professional and pleasant.

My first impression of Dr. Kuhn was that he appeared to be very sweet, soft-spoken, and had a GREAT bedside manner. As I saw him more in the hospital both before and after surgery I quickly realized that my first impression of him was quite accurate. I am, however, not impressed by his staff. They seem very unorganized and frazzled every time I'm in his office. All in all, I believe his surgical competence AND bedside manner are both OUTSTANDING!!

Just met with Dr Kuhn for the first time today in my consultation. I was absolutely impressed with his demeanor. He sat with me for 45 minutes and answered each and every questions I had.rnrn

I found Dr Kuhn to posess the skills, temperment and sense of humor I needed. He revised my old (4.5 yrs) VBG to a RNY this week (March 08) and this was not an easy, cut and dried surgery. He was honest about the possible complications, limitations and expectations. I had heard that some professionals tend to look down on people with failed bariatric surgeries, as if they had failed to follow orders. Even before he discovered the very appearant physical reasons for my staple line breakdown, he was open-minded and accepting of me as a patient. I felt no such indifference from him. I could not recommend Dr Kuhn with more enthusiasm! He is a consumate professional and I appreciate all he has done for me and my family.rnTamerarnDallasrnPS- there is one negative aspect to the process I found. By way of some SNAFU with Dr Kuhn's office staff, my request for surgery was sent to my insurance company BEFORE I brought them copies of PCP, x-ray documentation of the breakdown and the history of hypertension. My BMI was so low that without these documents, I obviously didn't qualify for the surgery. It was not at all a simple thing to rectify this mistake and it took me over 6 months of letter writting, discussions with my insurance company, my husband's Union and Human Resources people before they would finally understand the paper glitch and agree that I did, indeed, qualify for the revision. Toward the end I DID loose all hope and had quite a few hopeless days. Luckily, tenacity won out. Thank God for UHC, American Airlines, the AFL-CIO Transportation Worker's union and Dr Kuhn!

I love Dr. Kuhn, just wish I had the courage to do something sooner. He's such a sweet and patient man. He understood my fears and he really listened to me. With God and Dr. Kuhn all things are possible.

My surgeon was Dr. Joseph Kuhn. I could not have asked for a more wonderful doctor. In the office for my first visit, he sat and answered all my questions, did not appear hurried, and made me feel very comfortable with the choice I had made. His office staff is the best. The feeling of being cared about and cared for, radiates out of all the staff. The radiologist that did my venus doppler sonograms is very personable, and easily struck up a conversation that was interesting. The nurses, also are supportive in my journey, what I am experiencing, and willing to help wherever they can. I had a laparascopic RNY surgery on 1/21/08, and went home the following day. Dr. Kuhn visited me in my hospital room personally each day to see how I was doing. He again made sure that I knew all of what I needed to know for the immediate follow-up, and indicated that I should not hesitate to call him for anything even a little out of the ordinary. Dr. Kuhn's office greatly emphasizes after-care, has a nutrionist on staff, a support group structure, along with surgery buddies, and a psychologis that does a pre-surgery session, and also sessions with the support groups. I would rate Dr. Kuhn and his office as the complete top of the line package. Caring, informative, personable, communicative, and top notch surgeon. My recovery has been very quick. I have not suffered, any nausea, vomiting, or other ill efects of the surgery. He is a competent surgeon and has a good bedside manner, not always found in surgeons. I would recommend him to anyone without any hesitation. rnThe only negative I have is regarding the lab that Dr. Kuhn's downtown Baylor office uses for bloodwork. (and I will go to a different lab for my next visit) The people are unpleasant, the lab is dirty, it hurt the whole time while the nurse drew blood (and after), and I had a black and blue spot on my elbow the size of a half dollar the following day.

Loved him. He explained everything to me. He was very nice and down to earth. I have 2 family members that used him prior to me. Can't say enough good things about him.rnrnMy personal opinion: I will say the office seems a little kaotic at times with paper work, setting up appointments, seems there is a bit of confusion, etc. I've had appointments scheduled and rescheduled and I've been sent to the wrong location for appointments. The nurses (Robbie especially), PA, Dr Golden, Jessilyn and Dr Kuhn are AWESOME!!! The pros DEFINATELY outweigh the Cons. For more info feel free to contact me [email protected] voting for Dr. Kuhn (Baylor-Dallas) and his staff a 9.5 out of 10!! Would highly recommend!
