9/25/01 - I really can not say enough good things about Dr. Kuhn. I had my first consult with him today and I am soooo glad that he is my surgeon! I am very impressed with his credentials. To date, he has a zero complication rate with the numerous RNY surgery he has performed (I'm told he is a perfectionist)! He was also named in D magazine as one of Dallas' top surgeons. He is very personable, informative, and caring. In addition, I am very impressed with his staff and the after care support that is available (which includes monthly meetings and a website where your questions are answered by other patients and the doctors as well).

So far, I am very impressed.

Dr Kuhn is just wonderful. He made me feel at ease immediately. I didn't feel obligated to explain my obesity as I have in the past with physicians. His office staff is great and his clinical coordinator, Chris, was very efficient considering the volume of work he has. I do not think there is anything that I didn't like about Dr Kuhn. I guess you could say I have a bit of a jaded view of surgeons as I work in the emergency dept. Most of them are not all that personable, but Dr. Kuhn surpassed all of my expectations. I feel that his practice could more heavily stress aftercare and have a more structured program including a meeting with a dietician before discharge from the hospital. He did address every aspect of complications with me...I also attended a seminar pre-op. On a scale of 1-10 I'd give him an 11. I had NO complications and went home right on time and his bedside manner is wonderful.

My surgeon is Joseph Kuhn of Baylor Medical Center in Dallas. I had heard many wonderful things about his practice and they are soooo true! Dr. Kuhn was thorough, patient, and extremely kind. He answered every question I had. I'm very excited to have him as my surgeon.

FIRST I WENT TO THE SEMINAR ON 2/8/01 WHICH WAS MANDATORY BEFORE THE DOCTOR WILL SEE YOU. THE DOCTOR IS JOSEPH KUHN, HE IS A GREAT DOCTOR AND SO IS HIS STAFF. DR. KUHN AND HIS STAFF EXPLAINED EVERY ASPECT OF THE PROCEDURE AND ALSO ANSWERED ALL OF MY QUESTIONS AND FEARS.

I met Dr.Mccarty/Dr.Kuhn at their April seminar at Baylor of Dallas. The Dr.s are partners and both perform the sugery. The seminar was very informative and both Dr.'s seem very concerned for thier patients not just the money they will be getting. They do have a structured aftercare program in place now,and everyone in the office are very helpful/kind. Chris, the ins/coord rep is just the best!!! I have had my 1st private consult w/the Dr.Kuhn and my impression of him has only improved.I would rate Dr kuhn a 10 and would advise anyone wishing for wls to look into their program.

I liked him and the information was very good with handout informationn.
I got more depressed about my weight going up and Dr. Shelton report, with Dr. Waldtrip report. Very nice people. I don't feel like they are working with me to get Cigna to agree to the surgery. You have to attend a seminar, and then fill out papers, and last meet the (3) doctors to ask questions. The aftercare is a nutrition is involved, along with psychiatry and weekly support groups.
That the aftercare is very important for your weight loss and your health. Yes they have a structured aftercare program.Takes at least 3-4 hrs. Excellent doctor. Both is great

He was very kind and soft spoken. He has been a great help I would recommend him to anyone.

His office staff was wonderful, he has a gentleman that works there by the name of Chris. I am able to call or e-mail him any time with questions and hes there to help.

They stress aftercare, once I go back for my 2 week check up then I will be allowed to start working out. They feel exercise is very important.
They held nothing back, they explained that death could be the number one thing, to enternal bleeding. I would rate Doct Kuhn as a 10. He had great bedside manner and surgical competence.

March 31 - I have not met DR. McCarty or his associate Dr. Kuhn as of yet but I attended a seminar on March 8,2001. This is required before his office will schedule an appointment. I have spoken with Chris several times on the phone and he has always been very helpful. Will post more once I meet with them. Hopefully this will be soon since they have sent my predetermination to insurance company this past week.

April 23 - Surgery date scheduled with Dr. McCarty's partner Dr. Kuhn. Will have consult, echocardiogram and Upper GI in July all on same day.

May 24 - Met with Dr. Kuhn and am so glad I chose him to be my surgeon. He was great about all of my questions, did not rush me and answered all of mine and husband's throughly. He was very calm and relaxed even though we where there about an hour.
