I had met Dr Jose Rodriguez when my husband had lap band. I found him just as warm, caring and competent this time. I loved his entire team and Joanne from belite. I don't want to leave out Alberto, the beach tour guide, haha. My surgery and recovery was perfect. I am so happy I used Dr Rod and have my sleeve!

First impression was quick but he seemed to care.
Language a big problem with my lack of spanish and there lack of english made it difficult.

I was so impressed with the professional and caring manner of Dr. Jose Rodriguez and his entire Surgical Team. They all spoke very good English and communication was never a problem. Everytime I see him my respect grows. His staff has always been quick to respond to my requests. His office contacts me to see how I'm doing. Dr. Rodriguez really stresses his after-care diet and really wants me to succeed. I'm not just a number on his surgical statistics which is important to me. I would rate him as a World Class Surgeon and would greatly recommend him to anyone considering weight loss surgery. I trusted him enough to have him do surgery on my daughter. The nursing staff didn't speak very good English but the Translation sheet the staff gave me helped enoumously in communicating with them.

I had lap band surgery about 7 years ago and felt like my weight was increasing and wanted a revision. After some research and help of the Beliteweight team I decided on Dr. Jose Rodriguez "Dr. Rod" and he performed a gastric sleeve surgery. I found Dr. Rod to be the ultimate in professionalism, care, and support. I was unsure which type of revision was best for me and I left it in his capable hands. My entire experience was outstanding from checking in, through the surgery, and the after care I received. Not only is Dr. Rod wonderful but his entire staff treated me with the best standard of care and concern. I am convinced that my care could not have been of a better quality anywhere. Thank you Dr. Rod, Dr. Elmo and everyone else. Thank you also to Beliteweight for the exceptional service I received. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Rodriguez to anyone.

My first impression was he was a caring man. My impression only changed in that I realized just how good he is at what he does and that the patients are first to him so he brings his own surgical staff with him to Tijuana. His staff was awesome, all spoke English, and were helpful and willing to answer any and all questions. There was nothing I disliked about Dr. Rod or his staff. He is very serious about the after care and the post op instructions to the patients. Would and do recommend Dr. Rod to anyone and everyone!
P.S.

My mom who went with me was terrified I was going to some back alley butcher and filthy shanty. She is now a Mexico surgery convert and can do nothing but rave over the cleanliness and care...better than any American hospital. She is now considering plastics in Tijuana.

hi my name is yolanda i had my surgery the gastric sleeve on 7-1-10 my dr, was dr. jose rodriguez my first impression of him was he has a nice smile he was always friendly when he spoke to us about the surgery before and after.when dr. rodriguez started my procedure he found a large hernia in my stomach and the upper part of my stomach was in my chest dr. jose had to work extra hard on me he removed my hernia and repaired my stomach and did the sleeve surgery also. he did not hesitate to decide what to do he took charge made a decision that he felt was best for me i will never be able to thank him for taking such good care of me. if anyone has any doubt or scared about out of state surgery please give me a call i will asure you everything is safe the driver picks you up at the airport and takes you to the hospital and he takes you back to the airport after your surgery is over you are never in any danger. the staff of star medica was great the hospital was clean and you have plenty of room to rest and move around in privacy.

I had a wonderful experience traveling to Juarez, Mexico to Star Medica. Everything went as scheduled. Dr. Rodriguez has an excellent bedside manner and stopped by to check on me everyday to see how I was doing and if I had questions or concerns. Also, the entire hospital staff was EXTREMELY plesant, caring and gracious. I had the best care anyone could ask for. Also, we felt extremely safe with our driver Sergio. He was knowledgable about everything and was excellent in getting us from El Paso and Juarez and back again.

I loved everything about my experience with Dr. Rodriguez and the medical staff at Star Medica.

All of the staff were helpful and concerned about my comfort and care. The language barrier was different, alot of the staff only speak spanish. But we bought a translation book. Even with the language "thing" the experience was wonderful.

I will be telling all of my friends and family that if they are considering the lapband they should consider Dr. Rodriguez.

My facilitator was wonderful. The driver met me at the airport as soon as we landed and took us to the hospital, the check in was fast at the hospital and when it was time to go home our driver met us at the hospital and drove us to the airport. NO PROBLEMS!!!

Most people when they hear about people having surgery in Mexico they invision such horrible conditions. Boy,were they shocked when I told them about my experience.

The hospital was new and the cleanest hospital that I have ever seen. Cleaning staff clean your room three times a day and you must sign that they did it. Next came an inspector and he nactually did a whoite glove test.

The staff were so friendly and yes they do speak English. They even sat with me because they thought that I was scared. (I went to Mexico by myself)Everything was explained to me.

I would recommend him and the staff to everyone! I wish I had known about him years ago.

Dr Rodriguez was phenomenal!!! The first time I saw him, he came in, I was lying on the hospital bed, and he came in, patted my stomach, and said, 'we're going to fix that'. I immediately liked him. He did an excellent job, no side affects, no complaints from me. I only saw him the one time, but did see Dr. Villareal, every day, post-op. He was also phenomenal! Very patient, explained everything, and made sure everything went smoothly.

He gave me the list of what do do and when to do it, since I would not be going back to Juarez, Mexico, for aftercare, but I felt supremely ready to go back to my regular doctor, with x-rays in hand, to continue on.

The language barrier came up a few times, but they give you a list of common equests, ice water, towels, etc, and my sister and I both had Spanish in high school, so were able to make it through.

They had me up and walking within 10 minutes and me waking out of anesthesia, and I continued to do that until I checked out, 4 days later. The nurses were all very helpful and friendly, and helped out with all of my stupid little requests.

The only negative was, by the end of our stay, I think they were starting to ignore us, because I was doing so well. It just started to take a little bit longer to get ice. But, then, again, that made me go down to the cafeteria and get my own, so maybe not a total bad thing.
