I thought that he look too young to place my life in his hands. After our meeting I found him to be very knnowledgeable and comforting. I find him easy to talk to and that all questions are answered brutally honest. He maintains a well balanced program and support and I appreciated that. To the ppoint that while in the ER, he kept telling me that I could die and did I still want the surgey until they placed the mask on.
He and his staff were great and I would highly recommend him and his no nonsense way of approaching the surgery and the risks.
Dr. Aranow exuded confidence, but not cockinesss. He was very upfront about the risks, and the complications that have happened to his patients. He has learned alot from those lessons, and his current patients will benefit from that. His program is great, and he will not perform surgery on someone that he feels is too great a risk - I admire that.
Wow, what to say about Dr. Aranow, or where to start is more like it.
My first impression of Dr. Aranow was at his seminar and thought wow he looks young. But his statistics are great and man does he know his stuff. If you want someone who cares and explains and answers any and all concerns, this is the man. Some say "cocky", I say "sure of himself", so sure of himself that I am scheduled in four days for surgery and not really even that nervous. I am sure I will be nervous on the morning of surgery but I know his statistics and I know that he is good and he is going to help me change my life. He is a truely wonderful man and would, and have recommend him to anyone. He gets a 9/9 in my book, the only one who gets a 10 in a girls life is her daddy.
Dr. Aranow's reputation as well as the reputation of the hospital was the determining factor in selecting him. He is very confident of his skills, as he should be. His program is very structured and strict. He makes it known to his patients from the beginning the risks involved with the surgery as well as the risks of obesity. Post op in the hospital I found his PA very helpful. She took the time to answer my questions and was sensitive to my feelings and concerns. His office staff and Elina, the dietician are very helpful. I picked Dr Aranow for his competence not his bedside manner. My incicision looks wonderful and I had no complications.
Dr. Aranow is an extremely bright and accomplished surgeon. I was at ease with his abilities the first moment I met him. He is very strict and tough on his patients because he wants to know that you will follow directions at all times. You have to lose at least 10 pounds prior to having surgery so that you can lesson problems during surgery, which is understandable but very, very stressful.
I'm not real comfortable with his after surgery follow up program concerning lab workups and protein and vitamin supplementation.
Overall, I would rate Dr. Aranow as satisfactory. He is a fantastic surgeon, but he is appears to be over booked and not very personable. I only saw him once in the hospital after my surgery and would say that his bedside manner leaves a lot to be desired.
First Impression - Very young but had an amazine confidence about himself. Also gave the impression which is true that he will not operate on anyone but someone who is committed to following his treatment and suggestions.
Would recommend him as a great doctor who is also very caring about his patience
I was referred to Dr. Aranow by Barbara Hill a long time friend of the family and My wife and I went to the informational meeting in October. My wife and I were skeptical about this surgery and only after my Cardiologist suggested I look into the procedure did we obtain two referrals from my primary physican and they were in New Haven. We were so impressed with Dr. Aranow and his professional presentation, how the operation made sense for me, the risks involved, the expections and benefits. we decided that night not to go any further.
I had two other surgeons to compare Dr. Aranow with who have operated on me, Dr, Stephen Stein, who was head of Surgery at Yale New Haven and rated as one of the top Surgeons in the Country, And Dr. Peter Blume who is Head of Podiatric Surgery at Yale New Haven who named "Doctor of the Year" last year in Connecticut magazine an award that Dr, Aranow was also honored with in a previous year. So I am complely feel he is the best possible surgeon to do the surgery
I feel he has covered all the points a perspective patients needs to have, one step at a time. The staff is competent, professional and make you feel at ease. I would have no problem recommending anybody to Dr. Aranow.
