I really liked him. Down to earth, great sense of humor and seemed very comfortable and knowledgeable. Explained everything very well.rnHis staff were very friendly and respectful. Also very knowledgeable. rnOther patients should know he takes his time to explain and answer all questions. Knows you'll have more and makes himself available to answer those as well.rnHe addressed the risks by admitting there could be some, giving national stats, then his own personal stats. He seems confident. rnI'd rate him a 10/10rnBoth surgical competence and bedside manner both seem great.rnI have nothing bad to say about the clinic, the staff or the surgeon. Perhaps in time I'll find something to find fault with, but so far so good.rnrnNow I'm post op and I still have nothing bad to say. Dr Shram was great. He prayed with me before surgery and I told him I needed him to help me keep a promise to my baby girl and he understood how I felt and he did indeed help me keep my promise. The staff were amazing. Answered every question I had, came right away when I called for them and took all my concerns seriously. They were very pleasant and caring.rnI honestly have nothing negative to say at all.rnrnOh, I must tell you about Aster. He's the funniest guy. He was my pre-op nurse. He made me feel so comfortable that I was truely not nervous at all. Thanks Aster.
Dr Schram is very soft spoken, very friendly.rnOffice staff is very helpful & many are past patients so they are also his \"models\"rnI like that he gave you all the facts up front. He made sure you knew what you were getting into.rnHe held my hand in pre- op, said a prayer with me & my ex husband & made me feel at ease.rnI rate him a 10, both his skill & manners are excellent. rnI would highly recommend him to anyone thinking of getting the surgery.rnThe only thing i didnt like is, the office seemed very full each of the 3 times i went there. They were behind schedule & i sometimes felt like people were like cattle.
My first impression of Dr. Schram was great! he was very informative and I did`t feel rushed at all. rnrnHis office staff was very friendly and I really liked the fact that the facility catered to obese people. All of the chairs and doors were extra wide. I thought it was pretty cool.rnrn He is a stickler for after care because your sugery is a tool not a do it yourself magic proceedure.rnrnThe Dr. was very up front about the risks surrounding the surgery he also discussed the likely-hood of complications. As well as y complications happen.rnrn
when i first got there and met dr schram he was very nice and after the const. i was walkin out and asked him a qeustion he put his arm around me and said yes there is a list of stuff that we give u to take home after the surgery to help u with the foods ,the exercise ect . he was so good with understanding, things and answering , the staff there were ok there was one nurse that had the surgery and showed me pics i couldnt belive my eyes she looked so different and good im glad i went .
When he walked into our group meeting, he was very personable, he went to each and every person, asked them their name and introduced himself. I am in the medical profession so I don't really need lamens terms but I felt he did a good job explaining how the procedures work, the statistics, and the reality of this surgery not being a cure but an aide. This is all I have for now!!
Dr. Schram is a very confident and caring surgeon. Dr. Schram provided me with all the information I required prior to and since surgery. His positive attitude and his willing to help you, will ensure you have continued success in the weight loss journey. Thanks Dr. Schram...I look forward to working with you during my journey towards a healthier life!
I had my first group consultation at the Barix Clinic in Ypsilanti, Michigan, on Aug 6/08 and it was wonderful. Dr Jon Schram will be my doctor, but I have a pacemaker, so he wants a letter from a cardiologist to say I'm healthy enough for surgery (well, that my heart is healthy enough for surgery!)rnrnMy first impression of Dr. Schram was that he seemed like a very positive, confident, and caring doctor. My impression did not change when I met with him individually. He was awesome!rnrnThe staff at the Barix Clinic were wonderful (except for the people at reception.... they were a little cold), and they gave me a lot of information to read, and two people that I can contact if I have any questions at all. A lot of the staff are also former patients, and they are happy to show you their before pictures, and answer any questions.rnrnThe doctor drew diagrams on the board showing the difference between the Lapband surgery and the GB. Both have pluses and minuses. He wrote down the percentages of the various risks with both surgeries. They were very informative about what to expect, and are equally honest about how it works. They say it's just a tool that makes dieting easier. You don't have the hunger that you experience with a regular diet, so it's easier to do it, but you still have to do the work. If you don't exercise, you'll probably lose less than someone who does. If you eat fast food instead of healthy home cooked food, you'll probably lose less. It's not a magic pill that means everyone will get to their goal weight. You have to still eat right and exercise.rnrnThey have regular after surgery check ups (I think at 2 weeks, 3 months, 6 months and one year), and he said he would be happy if every patient came back to see him every year for the rest of their lives!rnrnI would rate Dr Schram, the hospital itself, and the staff at 110%. I was very happy I chose this clinic for my surgery.rnrnI think surgical competence is probably better, but a great bedside manner helps you feel more confident going into your surgery. It helps if you really trust the doctor, and I got that feeling from Dr Schram. I have heard nothing but GREAT things about him, and I am so excited about having my surgery, I can barely wait!rnrn
My first impression what that he was busy, thorough, and very on task. Over our next 2 visits including the day of surgery, I realized that he is so thorough and busy because he truly cares about his patients and he's good. Really good at what he does.rnWhat I liked least about him, was that he didn't spend more 1-on1 time with me.rnFuture patients should expect him to be, busy, to the point, and on task!rnHe totally addressed the risks of surgery, in my consultation.rnOverall I would give him a 10 out of 10.rnI think surgical competence is the best. I had wonderful nurses who gave me all the bedside manner I needed. I felt that his job is to do surgeries and do them extremely well. Which he does, very well.
