I heard only good things about Dr.Gould and Dr.Garren. I meet with Dr.Gould in October 2004 and I knew then I chose the right team. Dr. Gould & Garren are the best. I could not have asked for a better team. Everyone at UWHC's Bariatric Clinic is wonderful and I'm so happy with the care I receive from them.
Dr. Gould was very pleasant and patient. He took a lot of time to explain things to me and my partner. I was impressed with his knowledge not only of the surgery, but with the insurance process as well. I am undecided about which type of surgery I want and he said what he would do for himself while emphasizes that might not be the best choice for me. I liked that personal interjection.
Have only met Dr. Gould once. He struck me as being very, very young. But after spending time with him I felt he was experienced beyond his age.
The office staff was courtious and spent a good amount of time dealing with the types of surgery's available and the nutrition aspect. They also covered the risks involved with this type of surgery. After the initial visit I understood that this will be a lifetime committment and not just a quick fix.
The waiting period for insurance approval was the hardest part. After numerous calls to the insurance and to Donna and Mari at Dr. Gould's office I started to feel I was being lost in the shuffle of the paperwork.
But once the insurance was approved Donna finally called back to give me a date.
All in all, it has been a good experience so far. Can't make a comment on bedside manner yet, won't be in the bed until February 9th.
I can start by saying that I met Dr. Gould through my employer, UWHC. Dr. Gould is an amazing person and truely has a passion for his patients. I first saw Dr. Gould early this summer because of severe erosive esophagitis and GERD. Dr. Gould gave me options, one of which was wls. Dr. Gould took the time to write numerous letters to my insurance company and finally the IRO. I am proud to say that Unity Insurance will be paying for my wls. Dr. Gould has a true desire to help his patients and takes care of them forever. The UWHC Bariatric Program is a wonderful program consisted of three surgeons, one of which is Dr. Gould. His consultation thoroughly discusses preop and postop care, risks of complications and lifelong decisions that a patient considering wls needs to know about. I would rate Dr. Gould an A+. I am scheduled for surgery in December and hope to share my success story with you then.
I first saw Dr. Gould at a support group meeting. I thought that it was great he came to the support group meetings. Dr. Gould works as a team with Dr. Garren.
I had my consult with Dr. Gould. He was very nice. He did a great job of informing me of the surgery and what the different complications are. I am extremely confident that they will do a wonderful job.
The office staff is great. They were all very informed about the procedure and before I met with the Doctor I was asked to take part in discussions regarding the meal planning and the different types of surgery offered. This was very informative and helpful. I am a little concerned about getting approval from my insurance company. I am not sure that they know all the requirements and it may take awhile to get the information in. I will keep up on this and try to get the information in as soon as possible.
They really feel that aftercare is important. They have follow ups throughout the first year and after to make sure you are successful.
I would rate thier program a 10 out of 10. I previously went to a different surgeon for a consult and found their program to be less informative. So it was a great relief when I found out about this University of Wisconsin program.
Dr Gould is very young, but very nice and a compentent doctor. Dr. Gould & Dr. Garren work as a team. I had many complications, but I don't blame them. There was no negligence, I was just one of those small percent of people that get complications. Both surgeons are very busy and always look tired, but when I was really, really sick, they were both there for me, especially Dr. Gould.
