After doing my research for a surgeon, I knew I would need the most experienced surgeon I could find to do my revision. Dr. Pilcher appeared to be kind, straightforward, calm as well as experienced with this procedure. He clearly gave me all the facts needed to make a decision regarding surgery.
I believe he is the only surgeon in the practice that takes on the most challenging cases. I feel confident I will be successful in his care.

Dr. Pilcher has been excellent. His entire office is "with it" and I have never felt neglected through the entire process. He takes his time with me and never rushes off. I highly recommend the entire practice, they are worth it.

Dr. Pilcher is a great Dr.. He is extremely knowledgeable. He made me feel very comfortable. I believe some things have changed since I actually had my surgery in the aftercare department. I think more emphasis is placed on it now.

Dr. Pilcher is a very nice and knowledgeable doctor. On my first appointment with him, he took a lot of time answering all my questions and the questions of my friend. We had a lot of them because I've been researching this surgery and trying to find out as much as I could about it. My friend was also concerned about me and he wanted to make sure I was in the best possible hands. Aftercare is very well emphasized and the doctor works in a clinic setting where you can get most if not all your question answered. They have dieticians, psychologists, nurses, and the surgeons that are in the clinic on various days. They also have monthly support groups. Overall I would rate doctor Pilcher as a great doctor and I feel very comfortable with him doing my surgery.

Dr. P. is a competent and highly skilled surgeon. Best of all, however,is the fact that he is kind, calm and caring. He sits down and listens and has never made me feel he is in a hurry to do anything else.

I always found his office staff to be helpful and attentive. My frustration pre-op is that I went around and around with CIGNA HMO for nine months and never did get approved. I switched insurance plans to Humana HMO and was approved approx. 2.5 weeks after his office sent in the initial paperwork to them.

I knew every aspect of what my costs would be pre-op, peri-op and post-op. He is very straight about the risks, the benefits and that I would have to work hard along with the surgery if I wanted long-term success. He was bluntly clear that I would need to continue to address the issues and eating habits that got me super obese in the first place. The surgery would not "fix" that. It would be hard and there would be times of frustration. He didn't sugar coat what aftercare would involve and stressed it would be a life long process.

His group has a very structured aftercare program and I am very thankful for that. When I have had concerns or fears, I have gotten in to the clinic in a day or two.

I give him an A+++++++.

Dr Pilcher was a caring and soft spoken doctor who was intersted in my questions and answered them in a way that I could understand them. He was easy to connect with and was considerate to some of my health problems. When you approach him at the support meetings he is honest and willing to give you answers to your questions. His office staff was friendly and helpful, but his office staff will warn you that they can get busy, but they will get back to you. When you go to your initial visit, make sure to complete your check list as soon as possible as the surgery calendar can get booked up fast as each surgeon in the group only preform 3 surgeries a week.

I had selected Voravit Wongsa in houston texas, but now I know I made a mistake. His office staff did not care about me as a person. They did not return phone calls and did not offer complete information when I asked. I was fed one morsel of information at a time until I was pulling my hair out! I have now chosen a local bariatric center but do not know which surgeon will be doing the surgery. I will update when I know. I selected John Pilcher as I was told that he was second in the country for this surgery. I have not met him yet. I met him on June 30th. He was very nice and had a great personality. He was quick and efficient. I am very pleased that I chose him.
